THE RETAH, TRADE CHOIS TILAS WEEK.-The
retah trude of King-stieet during the past week bas
excelled in extent anything that has happened for
years. Notwithstanding the alloted pecuniar dy se?
vere times, money was abundant and spent freely.

brisk trade of the holidays could only continue for a
month or two.

last night to witness the very excellent performances

a ti.kct and remain' to see tko minstrels have a
I chance to draw an article of silverware, consisting of
goblet?, cups, &c. There will be another perform?
ance this afternoon, and also one to-night Ladies

AN IMPROVEMENT ts THE MARKET.-Mr. G.
L Cunningham has neirly completed his fine new
stall in the lower mirket. It will ?e enclosed by a
neat boatding. and have windows open to thc north
and south, thin t souring coolness in summer and
warm'hiu winter. Ihe windows will rise and tall
by pulleys, and before each window there will be a
large marble sta*:, on which the meat will be cleanly
kept. It sabjetves other economical and suh'taa
tial purposes, that should iadu:e the venders in the
market to lollow Mr. Cuuningham's examplo at an

j RYAN.-The Cathedral Chapel wasfilledlast evening
! by a large and highly respectable audience, anxious
to hear father Ry.tn. De spoke lor about an hour
on thc authority and infallibility of the church, and
rivaled tho attention ot his audience. Thc proccedi
of the lecture were appropriated to the benefit of the
St. Vincent Female Orphan Society. Father Ryan
will give a poetical leading at Hibernian Hall to?
morrow, of which moro extended notice will be made
hereafter.
FAIR OF THE WIDOWS' HOSIE.-Thc Fair of
this truly benevolent institution, after having been
closed during tho Christmas bo'idavs, will bo rc
