TXTRNEB.-The funeral sei vice* over the body of Captain S. C. Turner will be performed to day, at the Church of the Holy -Communion, by Rev. A. Toomer Porter. The body -wiil be placed in the Lining family vault, at Old Town, about three miles np Ashley River, on the St. Andrew's side. SUGAR AND MOLASSES FROM NEW ORLEANS BY a NEW ROOTE.-Tho new railroad route across -the Peninsula of Florida, from Cedar Keys on the -Gulf, to Fernandina on the Atlantic, is commencing to attract a consider! bio trade, and in addition to Targe shipments of cotton from Mobile, arrivals from Kew Orleans are adding quantities of produce from the letter point. Yesterday evening the s!ea?er Dic? tator, from Fernandina, had on board a consignment - of New Orleans sugar and molasses for our city. TUBNRB. -Captain S. C. Turner, who has been harbormaster -oftlfls port for ten years past, died in this city yes? terday in the sixty-third year of his age Captain Turner was born at Shirley on tho James, opposite Bermuda Hundreds, Virginia, and was a brother of j Rear Adjairal Turner. Ho has been prominently connected with the commerce of thts port for near thirty years, having commanded successive" y tho ship Medora, bark Virginia Anno, steamship South Carolina and steamship James Adger. Before coming here he commanded the ship United States, between Philadelphia and Liverpool, for saving which, in a .collision with an iceberg, he once received from her owners a silve- service valued at $2000. He pos? sessed much intelligence on general subjects, and was particularly qualified ss a well-informed and ab!e shipmaster. CLUBS AND STABS.-Some time ago the house ot Adelaide Jones, Coming-street, was entered and -robbed of dresses, Ita, by Charlotte Walker, who <was arrested on Saturday by Lieutenant Hendricks, The following arrests and lodgments were made -on Saturday and yesterday, up to last night: MBte Fennick, colored, for selling poultry .without a license. Thomas Hennicks, colored, for being drunk and .disord%-ly in King-street Joseph Young, colored, lodged for throwing bricks -at the police at the corner of King and Broad streets. Alice Baker, colored, lodged as a va/rant. John Williams, colored, for sleeping in the Market. Quash%Bntler, for trespassing on Mrs. Belyea's .premises, Tradd-street. A thief was pursued in Rutledge s 'ree t on Saturday night who had been trying to commit robbery in Broad-stree'. PERSONAL.-Colonel L. D. Childs, of Colum? bia, was on a hurried visit to our city on Saturday last, and we wore pleased to see him in snch excel? lent health and spirits. The Colonel is turning out yarns exclusively at the Saluda factory, (four thou? sand spindles) ships bis weekly product to Philadel? phia via Charleston, sells at current rates ; and Saluda yarns make money all the time, because thc mill is run in a cotton country, vrith an advantage of fifteen per cent over Northern mills. Tho National Association of Base Ball players, re cently assembled at Washington, adopted the follow ing additional rules regulating games played by the members of the A'sociation: "Any player failing to take his regular turu at the bat, unless prevented by sickness or injury, or by permission of the con? testing nine, shall be declared out. Captains of nines can by mutual consent consider the games drawn games instead of playing a tenth inning ?8 heretofore. The limit of membership in a club be? fore playing in a match is now eixty days instead of thirty. Inhome-and-homo matches, tho ball shall be furnished in thc first and third games by the challenging club, and in the second game by the challenged club.'* REPOETEB'S CBUHBS.-Jhe Rev. C. S. Vedder delivered an instructive and very edifying discourse before the Young Men's Christ an Association, list oveni ig, at Trinity Church. The Court of Claims will continue in daily ses? sion until all business pertaining to cotton cases here dut ing the war are verified. v Mrs. Osborne, who was burned last Fi iday after? noon, died Saturday morning, after enduring terri? ble agonies. Very important and ncceesary repairs are in pro? gress at the Nine Mile Bottom on the State road. The new organ in St. Philip's Church is nearly completed. Mr. Baker, a well known organ builder of this city, is putting it up. Rutledge Avenue, from Bee-street up to Cannon, is to get a coat of "Babenitch." A fuB-rigged ship, with men aboard, all made of cake an d candy, is a novelty in the pastry and con? fectionery line. The "Marion," Captain Santa Claus, may be seen in John Marion's window, King Biri et. Two men, under the influence of liquor, had a flgh( with decanters on last Saturday sight in a bar? room up-town. They cut each other badly cn the bead and face. A fine new chandelier,made of metal to imitate wood, with Fix globes, will go up in the Hook and Ladder No. 3 house to-day. The Phoenix has re -eilly had a new one put np of a similar kind, somewhat plainer in design, but equally rich. The ?tna also has this styli sh chandelier. The stockholder? of the Blue Ridge Railroad held a meeting in the Mayor's office on Saturday, at 12 M. The proceedings will be found elsewhere. Aficr the meeting or stockholders adjourned, thc direc? tors met. *\ hat they did will be found in another column. A loud report, which was supposed tobe an explo? sion, was heard Saturday morning. It proved to be only the Champion's farewell gun. A number of strangers-Northerners aid foreign? ers-are visiting Fort Sumter, and other memorable points in the harbor. A man by the name of Sims has been arrested near Atlanta, Ga., and has confessed complicity in the robbery of $10,000 from Mr. James Calton, of Union Point, Ga. This is the same robbery for which it was falsely reported that a mau was arrest? ed here a few days ago. Thc turf is receiving considerable attention la Sava nnah. There was a fine trotting ma*ch on Fri? day afternoon last between "Mattie," "Lucy Long," and "Brick Pomeroy," in harness, mile heats, three in five. It is stated that Professor Eckel is to pieside over the new organ in St. Philip's Church. The frt. Andrew's Lodge, A F. M., will colebrate their anniversary at the Pavilion Hotel, this evening The miniature equipage and borles of Ibo Tom Thumb party are at private stablos. The Zernbabel Chapter No. ll, A. F. M.. had a good timo at the "Pavilion" on Saturday Dight. The shipping in the harbor was at half mast yes? terday, in respect to the memory of Ciptain Shirl ey C. Tpmer. In the race on Friday last, in Savannah, over the "Thunderbolt Park Course," "Brick Pomeroy" won all th e heats, and the purse of $250. Time : 2M)i, 2:47, 2:46yz. "Lucy Loop," second best, carried thc sec end prize, $50. Fine sport is up for Christmas, when silver cups aud other valuable prizes will be awarded. The Savannah Morning News says: "When the Forest City Club went to Charleston the whole city turned out to welcome them ; we must show that we are in no wise lacking in genuine hospitality, when they come on next Friday to play the 'Bome-and home'onthe ground of the "Foresters," bick of the park. " Licenses Nos. 1 and 2 for the new year will be fur? nished by the Clerk of Council to-day, and his office closed against issue on Saturday. The Alerts will practice at the foot of Broad-street every afternoon until they leave for Savannah. Sealed proposa's are invited by thc City Treasurer for furnishing the badges used by carts. Patterns to be scon at tho office. Arrangements hava been made to carry persons to Savannah, on the visit of the "Alerts," at $6 for the round trip. Tem Thumb and party having expressed a great desire to visit Fort Sumter and other points, the yacht Eleanor has been tendered them. Tom Thumb and party will probably visit the Wid? ows' Home Fair before they leave. Governor Scott and a number of prominent rail? road men, who assembled here last week, have re" turned home.
