cha Islands and other parts of the world has long
been an important branch of trade. Tho necessity
of using all available stimulante to aid the produc
five powers of the land, has boen recognized from
time immemorial in ?il densely peopled countries.
The supply has generally been derived from the
accumulations on the farm, but in addition, for
sometime back, large manufacturing establish
monta have been erected at the North to prepare
ihese compounds for use, and this has bcoomc a
considerable element of commerce. The prepara?
tions of "Rhodes," "Mapos," "Coe," and others,
are known the country over. The South bas late?
ly used these fertilizers largely, and in her present
impoverished condition, the outlay for thes man?
