We remember at the Wilderness a gallant Mississippian '
had fallen, and at night, just before burying bim, there
canis a letter from har he loved best. Ons ot the group
around his body-? minister-whoso tenderness was
womanly, broke the silent tearfulness with which he saw
the dead letter ; he took lt and laid lt upon the breast of
hun whose heroic, heart was still: "Bury lt with him.
He will see lt when he wakes." It was the sublimest
sentence of his funeral sermon-If. O. Pieajnmt.

Southern flour is firm and in fair demand. Balea of

GRAIN-The wheat market, under more liberal receipts

obtained a special Act of the Legislature, consolidating

Philadelphia University of Medicine and Surgery,

the legal representativo of the four Medical Colleges that
it haa absorbed. It is a liberal school of modtclne, con?
fined to no dogma, nor attached to any medical clique
but embraces in its teaching everything of value to tho
profession,

Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Anatomy
Physiology, etc.

seholarshlps, which are sold to ?rut-rourm- students for

$50, each constituting tho holder a life member, with the
]>erpetual privileges of the lectures, and all the teachiifge
of tho school. The only additional foes ara a \ early dis?
secting and matriculating ticket, each of which is $6.
'ihr Advantage* of Scholarthipt.-The student holding a
scholarship can enter the College at any time during the
year, attend aa long an ho chooses, and re-enter the Insti?
tution aa fiequently aa desired.
It requires no previous reading or study, lo enter the
University on scholarships, bonce, all private tuition fees
are aa ved.
Students, by holding scholarships, can prosecute other
business a part of the time.
The candidate for graduation can present himself al
any timo, and receive his degree as soon aa qualified.
In casca stuoent should hold a scholarship and not be
able to ottend lectures, lt can lie transferred to another,
thus preventing any loss.
Parents, guardians or friauds ol' students wishing to
Surchaso scholarship for them a year or more bejore
jeir attendance at the University, can secure them by
advancing one-half the price aud paying the balance
when the student enters. Physicians aud benevolent
men can bestow great benefit upon poor young men by
presenting them a scholarship, and thus enabling them
to obtain an honorable profossiou.
The Faculty embraces seventeen eminent physicians
and Bungoona'. The University has associated with it a
largo hospital cliuic, whom avery form of medical and
surgical disease ts operated on and treated lu the pres?
ence of the claaa.
CoLUOE BUILDING.-The College building, located In
Ninth street, south of Walnut, ls the ?nost in the city.
Ita front is collegiate gothic, and is adorned with ?u
battlemente and embrasures, presenting a novol, bold,
and beautiful appearance. The facade ls of brown stone,
ornamented by two towers, rising to tho elevation ol
eighty feet, and crowned with an embattled parapet.
The building contains between fifty and sixty rooms, all
supplied with water, gas, and every other convenience
that modern improvement can contribute to facilitate
medical instruction. Only five hundred scholarships
will bo Issued, and as two hundred and fifty aro now
sold, those who wish to aecure ono should do eo at once.
Money can be remitted by express, or a draft or check
sent on any National Bank iu thu United States, when
the scholarship will be returned by mail, signed by the
President of the Board of Trustees, JOSEPH H. FISHER,
Eaq., and the Dean of the Faculty, W. PAINE, M. D.
