On Saturday the staple was dull and prices Irregular, the demand bolng almost exclusively for the better quali? ties of the. staple, whioh were sold, In some instances, at rates a >"c. down-the transactions amounting to some 266 balee. Middling bolng quoted nomlnaly at 17c, and Strict Middling at 17X @ 18c. fl lb. On Monday the market was inactive, buyers wanting only good qualitteb and for which they offered declining priooB, the rates falling off from a half to one cont per lb. Bales about 100 bales, Low Middling being quoted at 16>i, Middling at ICS, and Strict MiddUng at 17c. per lb. On Tuesday the demand was moderate, but prices were firmer; sales 170 bales, the rates remaining quota bly unchanged. On Wednesday the market opened active, with full and firm prices; but later in the day a decline having been reported in the English market, the staple here became easier, and some transactions took place at a concession In price. HAY.-Tho receipts of this article have been light and we] learn of no wholesal e transactions. ?OBN.-The market conUnues without arrivals and th? stock in the hands of dealers is slowly diminishing. The transactions are only in a retail way at $165&166 fi bushel, weight, bag? included, for good to prime Corn. OATS.--The business in this grain ls confined to the local retail trade. The arrivals baye been about 2000 bushels, consigned to dealers for the local trade.
