Another Accident.?We aro pained to record
tbo sudden demise or a small black dog with a
. curly tail, who camo to bis untimely cud by vio

on tbo railroad trnck in Culhouii street when tbo
ear approached swiftly and?poor dog Tray was
no more. His remains were carefully placed in
the gutter, there to abide until Iho scavenger ro
movee him to his last rusting place. Who hu was,
and where ho camo from, is not known, bis past
history isu blank, but some ono will whisllo in vuiu,
tboro will be no response, the tail that was wont
to wag reeponaivo to a call is now incapablo of that
emotion, and the little black dog la a thing ot tbo
past.
The New Custom House.?Tho workinon aro
still busily engaged on thin building, but their
labors are confined principally to Hin interior, and
an ominous sign of "Positively no Admittsnco''
keeps the curious al a respectful distance. Collec
tor Mackey is determined that Charlostou shall
have a Custom Houso that will rollect er.me cr?dit
on the Qovorumcul, and is using tbo appropria
tion obtained from Congress in completing tbo
struoturo, Tho work is done under Ins super
vision, and though it is con?ued for Iho presold lo

expected when Congress meets this winter, and
the ornamental work of tbo exterior will bo re

Tue Stritt Railway?Cbakoe of Schedule.?
The public are roquestod to notice tho change
that will take place on Monday, the 7th inst., in ,
the schedule of tho Street Railway. It will be seou I
that on tho laat trip tho cara will leave tho lower '
terminus at 0J P. M. This change, while it will 1
benefit the public, will be no less acceptable lo '
the employees of tho road. Few porsous remain
at business during tbo season to that late hour, 1
aud tho pleasure passengers are low and far be
tween. Tho abort days and long evenings of win
ter are fast approaching, and tho id re. is will bo
comparatively deserted by all bul a few stragglers.
|n former years the enrfew's solemn knell an
nounced the cloao of day, nnd tho hour when good
and honest citizens should seek their homes. Its
sound is no longor heard, but tho tinkle of tho
car bolls ban taken its place, end will serve to
warn tho belated citizen of the llig.it of timo.
A overt to. i no in tue Street Cars. ?Some months
since tbo Company notified tho public that thoy
would allow them tho privilege of using tho panels
of the cars for their business advertisements.
Foi a long time no offers were made, but Iho op
portunity to display nn advertisement, so that all
who ran may read, was loo tempting to bo ne
glected, and some of the panels havo boon taken
by prominent bniiness houses. Messrs. Stoli.,
Webu & Co., and J. R. Read A Co., of King atrcot
fame, bave a centre panel in each ear; while, on
the opposite aide, the wheelbarrow or Mr. Hiram
Harris is trundling along, announcing that job
printing and book binding ran bo douo at Ilia cs
tablichruont. While thin system of advertising
destroys the piclnrtist|ue appearsnco of the cars,
it cannot fail to attract attontinn, aud will in all
probability becomo exceedingly |>opular among
the merchant*.

that ?T?rj one kept to thu windward. Rose con

place where tho bad people go and allowed to sleep
off her uproo quietly. On being told of her mis
