COTTON.-The article seems to be steadily receding to an approximation, to old ? gores, and should Middling Upltnd bo forced down to 30c. ft lb. greenbacks, deduct? ing tax, depreciation of paper currency, fcc, the balance left to the planter will hardly exceed 10c. fl lb. specie. The weather in this immediate section continues too wet for the plant, and tbs reports of rust and dropping of the lonna increase in frequency, while the already late con? dition of the crops is still further aggravated. At thia J point tbs receipts are unusually backward. The declin? ing prices and light stocks confine transactions io a very limited field, and under this state of the mark -t the rates have receded here from 1>*($2 cents f> lb during the week. The following is a statement of the transactions in the staple in thia market for the week just closed : On Friday September 6, there was a fair inquiry at un? changed prides-sales 83 bales, Low Middling being quoted at 23(3231*'c., and Middling Upland at 24a34Kc, fi ft. On Saturday the market was quiet-sales 22 bales at previous ratee. On Monday the market was in favor of the buyer, and Middling Cotton, in some operations, indicated a decline cf .?ic. fi ft.-sales 68 bales. Low Middling being quoted at 23?23S,c. and Middling Upland at 23% .@24?.c. * ft. On Tuesday prices had a lower tendency, buyers of? fering lower rates, which were accepted by some sellers, and about 21 bales changed hands st s decline of ?,c. %T ft., Low Middling being quoted at 22@i2.i4c., and Mid? dling Upland at 23@23%c *S ft. The harvesting of the new crop bas been retarded by the prevailing wet weather, and up to thia time we have no arrivals to mention. NAVAL STORES.-There has been received about 1300 bbls. ol all quantise. We note sales of Pale Resin at 16.00@5.51 ? bbl., Ko. 1 at *3.G0@3.76 fl bbL, No. 2 at W.00, and Ko. 8 at ?2.75^2.85. The Spirits found buyers at 61c. fi gallon in extra packages, and tho Crude Turpentine was sold at S3. 0 for 280 lbs. HAY.-The market continues without strobes, and the transactions have been only in a retail way from pre? vious receipts. CORK,-The arrivais of this grain have been light, say about 3400 bushels for the week. In consequence of thc diminished arrivais holders are somewhat firmer, but the demand is confined to a light jobbing and retail trade.
