I am directed to hand you the following /resolution adopted at their meeting last evening.. ?eswroed. That in view of the fact that there are now two Book and Ladder Companies in the Fire Departa ant,, which are deemed amply sufficient for any emergency, and also as a resolution has been, sent this Board by the City Council disap? proving of the admission of any new Companies m to the Department, this Board do not deem it advisable to recommend the petition of Company No. C. Boil, relating to a claim which was recently rejected by the Board. On motion. ... Resolved, That a return be made to Council, in? forming them that -this' demand appears to have originated in the year 1853, and that after full in? quiry into and consideration of the matter, the Board are of the opinion that Mr. Bull has no claim and is not enbtbd to receive anything on account thereof from the City Council oi from this Board. On motion, considera- ? ti on postponed to next meeting. ; Alderman Steinmeyer offered the following reso- : ration: Resolved, That Council deem it inexpedient to i circulate any more City Issue, and for this pur- 1 puse, the City Treasurer be instructed to pay out no more Tjf said issue, but to receive all that is now out, in payment of city dues. After Borne discussion, Alderman Cosgrove called for the ayes'and nave, which resulted in the whole Board unanimously voting tor the resolution. The Communication of the President of the Trustees df the College of Charleston, which was laid over under the 18th rule, came up for action. GRAIN-Wheat, 4100 bushels white and 12,000 bushels red received; the market opened with eales o; 2000 bushels prime Pennsylvania red at $2 40a2 42; 200 bush ls choico Valley at $2 45; later 4000 bushels fair to prime do at %1 25a2 35; 1000 bushels ordinary at $2 10a2 15; 1000 bushels do inferior at $1 80al 90; closing at $2 35 for choice samples-a decline ot 10c compared with the close of tho previous day. Old is nominal The sales are 6700 bbls at S7 a7 90 for Superfine State ; SS Mall 10 for Extra State; S8 35al0 35 for the low gradea of spring wheat Western Extra; S8 60al0 00 for shipping Ohio; $10 Ooall 10 for trade and family brands of Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, and S10 60al3 26 for single and double St Louis extras. California Floor ia lower and duh at $12 75a$14. Sales 275 pc kg a. Southern Flour is lower and heavy. Sales of 850 bbla at $9 45all 26 for Ballimore and country extras, and SH al 3 for trade and family brands. GRAIN-The wheut markst is again lower. Tho de? mand is light and is in part for export, but chiefly for the home trade. The depression is most marked in white western. The sales are 22,000 bush st $2 28a2 31%for good to vary handsome amber state; $2 30 for amber Michigan; nur white do $2 36; $2 73 lor good white California? S2 35 for white Genesee, and $2 32a2 36 for choice amber southern. Oats are less freely offered. There is a good demand for white western, these are better. Southern are lower. Lard is without important change; holders ask former rates, but buyers refuse to meet them.
