LITTLE Cl UL I have a little curl of hair, As golden as tho bunniest ray; No treasure with it can compare, Its beauty cannot pass away. Close to my lips I press the prize; It may be weakness so to do, But something meting In my eyes Is the excuse I oner yon. This little curl of golden hair Speaks to my heart of one who died A bluo eyed coy, as sweet and fair As o'er invoked a father's pride. One Bummer's flowers above his bed Have sweetly bloomed and gone to rest, Binn last I held his littlo head Against my sad and aching breast. Above bis sleep tho snowy white Has softly gathered, likes crown. And bidden norn my eyes' dim sight The winter grass blades sere and brown. But whether with the roses red. Or with the winter's rapery. His littlegr*.e LO garlarded, It ls a lovely spot to me. There, wheo the shadows of the night Arise and drive the day afar, I see him with his crown ot light, Look down from Heaven like a star. I see bis beauteous smile enshrined In bright waves from the starry sea; I hear bis sweet voice in the wind, That murmurs through each blossomed tree, And well I know that, could he leave His name in God's pure realm of bliss. He d come, and round my forehead weave The.be.auty ot an angel's kiss. You may pronounce my sorrow vain, And counsel me with kindest breath; But do yon know a father's pain When his first born lies cold in death ? To hear the last tones of a voice. The sweetest music to his ear; To feel the rarest of all joys The richest gladness disappear. To see tho shadows close about The brightest ray thai over shown ; To t**j tho coffin lid shut oat The dearest idol he has known. This is the pale the lather feels When death has made his hearthstone drear, When o'er the silent form he kneels To weep about his lo red one's bier. So, surely y ou ' ll not call me weak Because I love his lock of hair , This carl which o'er my first bora's cheek Once fluttered in the summer sir. MARRIAGES. Commission houses have done but little, the auctioneers less, and jobbers ont "i-ich, 'in* i far as t ie tone of the market govs, and the general fee Lng of confidence in a speedy revival iuw>?t.u UM.., thoi-o his been a decided improve? ment over last week. There ia certainly nothing like a dospondent feeling, nor any apprehension ot a lack of trade when the time shall arrive for the regular opening of the tall business. Tho remainder of July .tay c n tinuo dull, but s gradual change will bo t xperienced cor? ly in Anglist. Considerable orders havo boen received from the West for summer goods, from which it may bo m terred that the light purchase of the spring had been pretty well ex? hausted. Country purchasers will be sure of Anding here abundant stocks oi domestic as well as of foreign goods, when they do come; and the large accumulations will prevent any largo advance of prices. Hardly any change in prices of domestics is to bo no? ticed. Unbleached shirtings and sheetings have been inactive, and remain the same as last week. For bleach? ed goods there baa Doon less demand, but prices aro firm. Stripes and ticks are little inquired for, and only the better qualities maintain quoted piicca. L'ouiius and cottonades are not in demand, and only the best grades bring the top prices. There la still an indisposition on tho part of manufac? turen to throw their fall styles of prints on the market, 'lhere ls a good demand for seasonable styles, ana the market is well supplied. Delaines are not in gr*, it re? quest; purchasers ure holding off fer the fall styles. The demand from the clothing manufacturers for Sile? sias continues good, and the sumo may be said of Italian cloths and woollens, particularly for cassim cres and satinets. In foreign goods tba market bas been very dull, occa? sioned in a great degree by the actual and reported fail? ures of some large importing houses last week. But price* are firmly maintained, notwithstanding, aud im? portations have been resumed, they they fall greatly be? low the imports for the corresponding period of 1866. The stock of German clothes on hand ls very large, but prices are firmly maintained, notwithstanding, and there a not likely to be any filling off as the season ad vane s.
