The New York Commercial Advertiser, of Monday, July 16m, says: Thia morning money hst been very abundant general? ly at the late ratea, 4 per cent on Governments and 6 per cent on stocks. Discounts continue very quiet ; prime paper h scarce at 6*7 per cent; second class ia negotiated with difficulty and at irregular rates. Foreign exchange again opena firm, the sales for sixty days' sterling, with leading drawers, being tl lOfcal lOfc. The Inquiry la quite active, and the present indications point to a large business for next eteamor, and continued liberal shipments of specie. The activity of the demand irises from a concurrence of unuanal causes. A larger portion of the Jury interest upon United States Bouda is due to foreign holdera than ls generally supposed. Bankers here are selling their loreign credits. A larger amount of old sixty-five bonds has been sent out than could be mararoa, and the surplus is being returned. Beside which, the ad van ce of about ten per cent in stocks on this market has caused the return of a large amount of Erle and Illinois Central shares.
