L Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen in VJity
Council assembled. That all taxes payable under the Or?
dinance to raise supplies for the year 1867, and for other
purposes, be paid on or before the 29th day of Jone next :
and that persons who shall make default of payment of
their taxes on that day, shall pay, in ?ddtaop to the
amount of their taxes, one and a half per cent per
month until the 81st day of July, when, ii not paul, an
amount of two per; cent per month upon the amount
of taxes shall be paid; and arter the Slat day of August
three per cent per month on the amount of taxes due
shall be paid un til payment of the whole amount is made.
TL That all persons who neglect or fail to pay their

or of any force, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation, m in
viting or loUdting boarders or lodgers fox such house,

a?ade or entice any of the crew to desert from any vessel

VUL Every person receiving the license hereinbefore
provided for shall pay to the City Council aforesaid the
snm of twenty dollars.
IX. The said City Council shall furnish to each sailor' a
or Immigrant's hotel or boarding house keeper, licensed
by them aa aforesaid, one or more badgee or abielde, on
which ahall be printed or engraved the name of such
hotel or boarding house keeper, and the number; and
street of his hotel or boarding house; and which said
badges or shields shall be surrendered to said City Coun?
cil upon the revocation by them, or expiration of any
license granted by them, as herein provided.
X. Every Bailor's or immigrant'a .hotel or boarding?
house keeper, and every agent, runner or employ?e of
such hotel or boarding-house keeper, when boarding any
vessel hi the harbor of Charleston, or when inviting or
soliciting the boarding or lodging of any seaman, sailor
or person employed on any vessel, or of any immigrant,
ahall wear, conspicuously displayed, the shield or badge
referred to in tho foregoing section.
XL It ahall not be lawful for any person, except those
named in the preceding section, to nave, wear, exhibitor
display any such shield or badge to any of the crew em*
ployed on any vessel, or to any immigrant so arriving hi
the city of charleston, with the intent to invito, ask or
solicit the boarding or lodging of such immigrant or ot
any of the crew employed oa any vessel being in the
harbor of Charleston.
XXL Whoever shall offend against any or either of the
provisions contained in section L 2,3,1, fi, 10 and ll, in
this Act, shall be deemed guilty ol a misdemeanor, and
shall, upon conviction thereof; be punished by imprison?
ment for a term not exceeding one year, and not less
than thirty days,, or by a fine not exceeding two hundred
and fifty dollar.-, and not less than one hundred dollars,
or by both such fine and Imprisonment,
Xrn. Tho word "vessel," as used in this Act, ahall in?
clude vessels propelled by steam.
