ANOTHER ROBBERT.-About 9 o'clock on Wed? nesday, night, the residence of Mrs. O "MARA, cor? ner of Beaufain and Coming streets, was entered and robbed of several articles of clothing and bed clothes. The fact was immediately made known to Lieut. HENDRICKS, who instructed Officer METERS to take the matter in hand, and that indefatiga? ble officer on yesterday arrested James Johnson and Robert Wickless, both colored, also three or four colored women, in whose possession several of the missing articles were found, and whose separate statements criminate each other. They will have a hearing before the court in a few days. THE YACHT RACE.-This exhibition took place in our harbor on Tuesday last, according to ar? rangement, with the entry of the following boats : The "Stonewall," "Maggie M?cJi?U," "Kate,'* and "Rose." The first not having come up in time, did not participate, and the " Kate" having broken her rudder when near Morris Island, was compelled to abandon the race, so that but two remained to continue the sport, and of these the " Maggie Mitc7ieftn waa the first to return to the starting point, but on the removal in the city yes? terday morning of the keeper of the Weliawken Light Ship, around which vessel the boats were to run, it was discovered that the " Bose" was the only one which had fulfilled the terms of the race, and the prize was accordingly awarded to her. The bright skies and sunny smiles of May are too tempting to be long resisted, audit is perhaps from thia reason that it has become so popular os the season to enjoy out-door life, and to exchange the restrain ta of'etiquette for a romp in the woods. Actuated by this desire, many of tho companies and societies of the city bave inaugurated the plan of giving May Day pic-nica, at which the guests could enjoy the social intercourse of their friends at the same time they inhale the fragrant breath of spring fresh from the native woods. The Marion Fire Company, having a knowledge of these facts, determined that their anniversary should ba spent at some suburban re? treat, where the pleasures of town and country lifo | could be combined. SUNDAY SCHOOL PIO-NIO.-The Sunday School of Trinity Church, Hasel street, on Wednesday last, had their annual festival, celebrated this year by a pio-nic on Mount Pleasant. The two Superinten? dents, Messrs. L. CHAPTN and S. A. NELSON, had made considerable exertions, for some weeks past, to get up everything in first-rate order. lu this they were assisted by the hearty and zealous co? operation of all - the teachers, and, from what we can learn, the projectors have every reason to feel gratified at the success of their party. The first battalion of infantry left in the 7 o'clock boat, numbering, with their officers, about 250. The 10 o'clock j boat conveyed some 150 more. A pleasant grove hear the beach bad been selected, and in a few seconds the new comers threw by their urbanity, and revelled in the fresh and glo? rious breeze, wafted in from the broad Atlantic, and delicately spiced with the breath of cedar, oak and pine. Childhood is at home in the country ; always under more or less restraint in the city. It was this sympathy with childhood that made COWPER say: "Cod made the country; man made the town." Soon the chaotic mass of in Cantinea organized Into squads. The girls "jumped rope" and swung in trees ; the boys, and the men too, played ball ; the old fellows forgetting, for the time being, that business was duh, that corn was up and cotton down ; imagining, in a pleasing hallucination, that this waa the glorious old Palmetto State, and not half of District No. 2. About 12 o'clock the whole company wore brought together under a large oak by the water side, and here the tiny throats poured forth their infant hearts in melody and adoration to their Maker. The children appeared to enter this part of the exercises with particular zest, and sang admirably. .?Marching Along" was the first hymn ; the uext was "Universal Praise." They were followed by "Hosanna," "Beautiful River," and "The Good Ship Zion." All these hymns had been neatly printed on a programme, in the hands of ever}- one present. This concluded, it was announced that dinner was next in order, and the company ucparatod iuto groups, each family having numerous guests. The "table" was decked on tho ground, under the friendly shade of pine or oak, and bountiful repast welcomed appetites mudo keen by the bracing atmosphere, and the calisthenic exer? cises of the morning. The temperature through? out the day was extremely pleasant, all that could be wished for such a purpose. Alter dinner playing recommenced, and so the day passed off, all happy as could be, and nothing whatever to mar tho jovial occasion. There was no preaching of any kind, either with or without a text-in itself a treat for children. There was not even a speech. The pastor, Rev. E. J. METNARME, was present, sud was to have addressed the assemblage, but 5 o'clock, the hour for parting, came too soon, and there was no speech. This school has an average attendance of 150 dis growingsx*-?ly. MAYOR'S Coen, Mar 16.-Charles Lockwood, a tuan of color, who assaulted ono Tom Parker whilo at work, and polled him off a ladder on which he was employed, besides bitting bim with a brick, was fined $5. A chimney which bad been on fire was reported by tho contractor to be in such a condition that a sweep could not ascend it, and an examination of it was ordered by his Honor. Susau Hutsou, a colored woman, whoso affec? tion for "old rye" has made her a frequent visitor at tho Guard Houso, was up again for not only being very tight, but alarmingly noisy, and using language disugroeablo to tho neighbors' ears. It appeared abo bad beon locked out of ber bouso tho evening before, and under tho impression that a slight noise would make tho door open, sho com? menced a scries of bowls, interspersed with ex? pressions, which caused the closing of another door, and ber being locked up all night, and then being given tho refreshing information in the morning that she had to pay 13 as a rino. CODBT OF COMMON PLEAS-Judge MUNROE, pre? siding.-Tho Court opened yesterday at 10 o'clock. The jurors answered to their names, and Mr. JNO. G. MILNOB, Foreman ol' Jury No. 2, was excused for tho day, and Mr. S. D. STONEY appointed in hie place, Mr. J. L. ASHENS filled the vacancy. The attention of the Court waa occupied during tho day with tho hearing of several casos on the Town Issue Docket, and several verdicts were.rendered. In the case of J. H. PLATTE VS. the Carolina Mu? tual Insurance Company, part of tho testimony was heard, and the further consideration of toe case postponed until to-day. U. S. DISTRICT COURT-Hon. GEORGE 8. BRYAN presiding.-This court opened at ten o'clock yes? terday, but the businesa of the day was not im? portant. In Admiralty, several libel cases for supplies and wages again 3 L the steamer Qtneral Hooker, were, on motion of R. S. DURYEA, Esq., referred to D. HOKLBECK, Esq., Commissioner, to report on same.
