FRIDAY MORNING, MAY 10, 1867.
T?h? shall tell my love I loro her ?
. .... Lo l abo stands
Heaven's own rainbow arch above her,
Palm boughs budding in ber bands.
Flowers beneath her rested feet,
Thomless Eden flowers and sweet.
Who Hall tell my love I love her ?
Such sweet song
Angel Mps are chanting over
This new saint amid their throng;
Scarcely will tney chango their strain
Counting human iovo so vain.
Who shall toll my lovol love her?
. . Shall tho lark,
Starting from his grassy cover
Wbilo tho sky is gray and dark?
May, mino own song soars as high
4? the brown lark's minstrelsy.
Who shall tell my love I love her? .
Shall the breeze?
That most sweet but thriftless rover,
Poes it stir the living trees?
Can my message thus thus be given?
Nay, the breeza blows undor heaven.
Who shall tell my love I lovo bar?
Shall not I?
When life's lever-sloop is over.
And my soul's glad open eye.
Darts through blue and amber space
Searching looks for her dear face ?
I shall tell my love I love her
Very soon
Human words no more may move her,
But my sp?lt lips ahull tune
Songs of love as high and sweet.
Songs of love as pure and meet,
As angels' own, her ear to greet
I shall tell, m y love I love her.
Judge Underwood's Charge.
COMMENTS OF THE RIUHHOND PBESS.
.... [From, the Whig.]
Underwood's charge to the Grand Jory yester?
day, will be found in our columns this morning.
We bave'?o hesitation in saying that certain of
its allusions to this city are the most wantonly,
mendacious and brutally libellous-utterances that
ever came from the bench of any civilized country.
Theyjuik thejx author beneatn the fellowship of
the lowest jail-birds. It is impossible to give ex?
pression. to> tho scorn and contempt which every
honorable;- mut must feel for the depravity of a
heart that can engender calumnies so vile.
_ _ [From the Dispatch.?
MONSTROUS CHARGE OF A JUDGE.-If it we: e thc
object of Judge Underwood to disgrace- his Gov-,
eminent and tno court over which he. presides, he
labored tn earnest yesterday to carry it out in bis
charge to the jury on opening his court. Wo pub?
lish it in our paper to-day as it comes from thc
United States Court. Thia charge, for the infamy
of rta aspersions of a whole community, Unas no
parallel in the judicial annals of any country on
earth. The world will wonder how such a man
over got to ba a judge : but he will be awarded the
credit of mAking good use of his office to secure
himself notoriety in at least one way : that of the
foul and filthy calumniation-of society.

UNDERWOOD'S CHARGE TO ms GRAND JURT.
Elsewhere in ? our columns will bo found the
.'charge,' yesterday delivered to his white and
negro jury by John C. Underwood, Judge of the
United States District Court of Virginia. As a legal
charge to a Grand Jury it-ia wholly beneath criti?
cism, and; challenges, comment only as a display
from the bench of a grovelling malice towards tho
respectable people of Virginia, and a nauseating
flattery off Stevens and tho Rauieal party. As an
emanation from the supremo judicial functionary
in this State, it is disgraceful to his office ; while,
asa literary composition, it would not bo creditable
to the brain of a thick-skulled freedman.
. [From the Examiner.^
UND Eh WOOD'S CHARGE.-A paragraph in a recent
iasue of tho Washington Chronicle, from John C.
UndieTwood, Was beaded "From a Virginia Judge."
Thank God it was a falsehood. Virginia has many
thu-ga to. regret, and some to blush for, but not
Underwood. ". This shiny issac of deepest filth is
no more a Virginian than was Verres a dc?ian.
He hails from the land which produced Benedict
Arnold," in tho last century, and Benjamin F.
Butler in the present, and yet disgraces both of
these compatriots; for we HUBS the courage of tho
traitor and tho capacity of the thief.
And. yet,- so bo und l?as and bounteous is tho
mercy of Omnipotence, tb-,t even this grovelling
thing has his uses 1 - The effort is making to wean
Bome-of tho gallant people ot Virginia away from
their magnificent history and glorious faith, and
bmd them to the chariot wheels Of a new idol-a
god whom their fathers knew not. And cunning
men whisper, to .these fainthearted OHOS, weary
with the endless persecutions of fate, "Would to
God that wo had died by tho band of the Lord, in
the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots ;"
and. th ey set np & goldon calf for worship, saying,
" tbo?be-tby gods, oh ? Israel." \
Small marvel. if, while the great and good load?
ers are ahnt out from them by a thick cloud, tho
faint-hearted and .the longera for flesh-pots bow
the knee to this new divinity, which mon name
Radicalism. .But, fortunately, the antidote follows
fast on the heels of the poison.
Let any white "man in Virginia read this low, ob?
scene brute's viperous;falsehoods, and remember
that hef thia Under wood, is tb e cub of Republican?
ism, ne better and no worse than his dam, and
ask himsehVwhe th er': ho is ready for the infinite
abasement of fellowship with such a creature. If
not, Re .'cannot be n Repnblican. Republicanism
means "herding -with tuen cattle, and wallowing in
tho same mrrc. And all tho winning notes of
editors, charm they never, BO wisely, if they essay
this thing, will f>o lost on tba men who cheered
We have to thank Republi canis m for the samples

union of ail good men in a hostility more -lasting
than a Cartnagenian's against these slanderers
and blasphemers bf all th at is good, and pure, and
higivana holy among us.
If any Virginian can read tins creature's charge,
and doubt the position an honeBt man should take
-with Underwood and his party or against them
-we beseech bim te read it to his wife or sister,
