Bold Podoev --On Saturday morning, about
ill o'clock, Mr. IlocKADAx's Imune in King Ltrcct,
near Cannon, was entered by aomo designing in
dividual and ?obbod of $1123 in gold, greenbacks
nnd Slate money. This robbery was effected by a
> ottng man who had proviotiHly boarded with Sir.
Hockaday, and who was thoroughly acquainted
with tlio promises. Ha bad discovered that the
money was kepi in a portable desk which was
usually locked iu n wordrobo, and, having obtained
possession of tho hoys, ho soon opened tbo warJ
rol>o and forced tho desk with a poker.
Lieutenant Hesdbicks, of tho dotcctlvo force,
was notified as Boon as tho loss was discovered,

tho track, a young man answering to tbo descrip
tion given was arrested. On beiir; placed in tho
coll ho confessed, and told where tho money was
concealed. This was all recovered, and Mr.
Hockaday loo generously refrained from appearing
