For these descriptions there has prevailed tho same dull,
ness, buyers refusing to outer into any operations until
planters reduce their rates, or advices from foreign ports
give encouragement to meet thc views of holders. Our
?tock to-day is about 1600 hilda, common to good quail,

HAVANA. January 12.-The correspondent of tho Now
York Herald says :
I do not hear of any sales of sugar at present Tho
supplies irom the country do not yot offer sufficient
choice. The market looks buoyant and provided plant?

may be done soon.
Molasses, clayed, is selling at the outports at 4>? reals,
and Muscovado at 5a5)& reals.
Exchange is firm. A very fair amount of bills have
been taken for the last few days, sterling at I4al4>?
premium; francs at 3o3>a premium; sixty days' currenoy
on New York at 22 per cent discount, and short sight gold
drafts ats premium
Freights are gradually recovering. Charters-British
brig Mary Olivia, 300 hhds sugar, Sagua to north of
Hatteras, et ?-5, and molasses at $3 25; British brig Charles
Henry, 307 tons, .-agua to Falmouth, at 50s; American
bark Dauneey, 260 tons. Matanzas to Philadelphia, at $4
a hhd, sugar and old iron.

MOBILE. January 17.-COTTON.-There has boon a
general and good demand to-day, without any particular
activity in tho market Sales wero made early in the
day on a busts of outside figures of yesterday (say 31}?c
for Middling), but later Factors advanced their figures
with the demand and botte: feeling in New York and
Liveraool, and the market closed firm at 32c, with sales
of 8500 bales.

There seems to be a considerable movement in
Foreign Exchange. The offerings arc liberal and the de?
