CARDENAS, Decerabor 27, 1866.-Since our last, on tho 20 Le inst, a heavy monetary crisis has prevailed in the Havana market, owing to the scarcity of specie, which is felt throughout tho country in consequence of a con? nection of various circumstances, amongst which we may point out the following as principal: 1st, the high rate of exchange on Europe, which has induced remit? tances to bo made in gold; 2d, the penurious state of the Government Treasury, which has occasioned heavy loans to be made from tho Banco Espa?ol, thereby with? drawing several'millions from the general circulation; and 3d, the uneasiness felt as to the ultimate result of the slavery question now under discussion at Madrid, and which has led somo of the most timid to place part of their funds in Europe. To these we may add that of the losses suffered bv several dealers in wines, flour and jerked beef, on account of which some failures are anti? cipated. Withal the situation of both of our banks and trade in general being quite sound, and our valuable crop close at hand, coral dence prevails among the mercantile cir? cles, and the general opinion is that the crisis wfll not be of long duration, whilst, on tho other hand, it may have tho salutary effect of causing the failure of the few whose . bad standing aro a cause of some uneasiness. Tua situation of this locality is perfectly good, but, as is natu? ral, the panic oocaaiom... in the capital by tho transitory suspension of the banks has been communicated to this market, and the bank here, as a precautionary measure, suspended on last Saturday its specie payments for a few cays, canoing thereby a complete stagnation in all mer? cantile transactions. The New York Evtning Post, of Jannary 4, ?..ates that the loan market is easy at 7 fi cent with a full and rather Increasing inquiry for accommodation on call. The banks, however, are disposed to contract rather than to extend their loans, preparatory to tho giving in of their quarterly statement which has to be made up next Monday, after which they are expected to bo more acces? sible to the solicitations of their dealers. - The discount ' demand continues small, but there is rather more dispo? sition to buy choice commercial bills; and if this dispo? sition continues, there wiU probably be some scarcity of paper when the banks commence discounting more free ly. Brig Annie Cook,-, at New York, to Bail Jan 15. MEMORANDA. ? The steamer Adele, from this port for Baltimore, put into Bald Head Light on thc 3d, owing to heavy gales, and sailed again on the 4th. Memoranda. Tho brig Ida Abbott 18 days from Georgetown, S 0, arrived at Barbadocs, Nov 4th, with 130,0(10 feet Pitch Pine. Particulars regarding the Ill-fated schooner E M Dyer (of which casual mention morely was made through tho Atlantic Cable,) have come to hand. The Dyer sailed tram Georgetown. S C, on Oct 10, for Richmond, Va, with a cargo of timber. On the 14th a storm arose, and the vessel sprung aleak. On the 16th spoke brig Jenny Morton, ot Baltimore, which vessel, lt is ' said, refused any assistance. At 3 P M, A Bakor was washed off and drowned. At 6 P M a heavy sea washed C H Bryant the first officer, and J H Sweeney, seaman, overheard, and they were both drowned. At 5.30 a largo' steamer hove down to them and sailed around them, but sheered off without offering any assistance. On tho 10th tho re? mainder of tho crew lashed themselves to the wreck, and remained there without food or water until rescued, on tho 22d, by tho brig. Meg, of Limerick. Jeremiah Har? ding, the Captain, and George Wilkinson, Beaman, were taken from the wreck delirious; tho latter died tho next day (23d), and the former on the 30th.
