The Mayor informed Council that he had been furnbh
od by the City Attorney with a copy of tho late Act of the
Legislature authorizing the issue and circulation of notes
by the City Council of Charleston.
Alderman Honour made the fellowing report, which
was adopted:
The Committee on Relief, in January last, in reporting
on an application of sundry merchants, in relation to tho
feos charged by tho Measurers and Inspectors ot Tim?
ber, stated that the parties concerned agreed that a cbargo
of fifty cents per M feet would be just and equitable, and
tho Committee recommended that such should be the
charge. It since appearing that this was in contraven?
tion of an Act of the Legislature, thc Commlttoo now re
command that the permission to charge fifty couts bc re?

Alderman Butler, from Committee on Engrossed Bills,
reported as having been engrossed by the Clerk, an Ordi?
nance to raise supplies tor the year 18G7 and tor other
purposes.
The Ordinance was ratified in due form.
On motion, Council adjourned to meeton Wednesday,
2d of January, 1867, at 6 o'clock P. M.
