COTTON.-The weather during the past week reached
? temperature whioi has probably given the Cotton
? plant throughout the South sn loy embrace, whioh will
extinguish the jope of aa. extension of the crop from a
prolonged continuance of a moderate season. For many
weeks, however, the weather hts been extremely favor*.
- ble in most sections for collecting the staple, and much

tton. The receipts at this point for the week amount to
??j ?096 balee, the exporte to 8038 bales, and the sales to
4479 bales. The demand since our last has boon good,
purchasers generally taking freely most of the Cotton of?
fered. Prices have been quito regular, the rates at the
sommencement of tho week having boon for Low Mid?
dling 31@35c; Middling 36, and Strict Middling 37o.

. On Friday, the 2d inst, there was a fair demand with
tan prices and an upward tendency in the staple, the
- sales being about 750 bales.
On Saturday holders were moro anxious to meot buyers,
and prices were not BO firm as tho day before, but the sales,
which amounted to 429 bales, were at rates sufficiently |
fall to prevent an alteration of quotations.
On Monday there was au active and improving markot
buyers taking some 850 bales at rates which established
aa advance inmost qualities of o.^c. ft lb.-Low Mid
diing boing quoted at 35c, Middling at 30@3G>^c., and j
Strict Middling at 37Kc $ lb.
On Tuesday, wiih a firm market Mid good demand, the J
lower qualities of the staple hardened up in price about a
J?o. ft lb., buyers taking some 653 bales-Low Middling j
being quoted at 35c, Middling at 37c, and Strict Mid-'
diing at 37Kc ft lb.
On Wednesday buyers ware not anxious to operate,
which caused rather a weaker markot, and led In some
... oases to the acceptance of easier retes, with sales of 490

Stores ls unsettled, with a declining tendency.
HAY.-A large lot, siy ooma 1800 bales North River,
just at hand, constitute the supply received since our last
report About 1000 bolos of North River has changed
hands at $160 ft hundred. There havo been no arrivals of
Eastern. Tho domini continues quite limited.
CORN.-The receipts hove been about 7000 bushels
from Baltimore, and 5000 from New York. We learn of
sales of Mixed Western at $1.40 ft bushel weight, bags
Inoluded, and good Maryland White at $1.53 ft bushel
weight, bags Included, lhere is but a light demand,
abd buyers only purchased to satisfy immediate wants.
OATS.-About 1000 bushels have reached here during
the week. A lot of about 1000 bushels was sold at 76o.

SALT.-Thero continues to bo a steady demand for
country consumption, which holders oro supplying at
