The market, consequently, was dull. Holders wero asking 33@34o for Middling, and seemed confident ?of another advanco, owing to the email stock in the ?country and condition of the crops. [Per Malta.] LONDON MONET MABKRT.-Tho principal feature in tbo financial world was the annoancomont by the di rectors of the Consolidated Bank, of London, on the morning of tho 28th of May, lhat they had resolved to close tholr doors. This bank recently undertook cor tal n liabilities of the suspended Bank of Londi n, but as tbo arrangement proved unsatisfactory, and lod to difficul ties, it wss found nceossary to adopt the stop taken. The directors, in their notice of suspension, say that "apart from the arrangement with the Bank of London, tho Con solida tod Bank was financially so strong that no difficulty would have been exporienoed in conducting ita operations, and the directors havo now In tholr hands tho wholo of the assets of this bank in an almost Imme diately available form." The action of tho Consolidated Bank lavery generally denounced, and it had tho effoot of checking the im provement which had apparently sot to on tho 26th in financial circles.
