[FOB THE WEEK ENDING THURSDAY EVENING, APRIL 19 ] COTTON.-Although th?re has been great cause for deprossion In the Cotton market during the past week in the large decline in the price in Europe, the staple here has maintained itself with great steadiness, and we close thc business of this week with our quotations about the same as pre? vailed at the termination of the week previous. This firmness has been almost entirely in consequence of tho very light stocks on the market, which for some time have boen of thc most limited character. On Friday and Saturday last tho transactions amounted to about 6U0 bales, at 35c. for Middling to 37c. for Good Middling Cotton. On Monday tho news per Sazonia waa publish? ed, showing a decline of a >id. to ld. in Liverpool. Buy ness endeavored to force the staple down, but holders were firm, and although the sales were very limited, they were generally made at previous rates. On Tues? day the news per steamship City of yew York was made public, showing a slight improvement in price in the English market-which intelligence, although it pro? duced no advance, strengthened the market, and gavo holders new confidence. The sales on Monday aud Tuesday amounted to some two hundred bales. On Wednesday there was a fair demand and 350 bales were sold; and yesterday the transactions amounted to 200 bales, at the following quotations : Ordinary to Good Ordinary.28 to 31c Low Middling.33 to 34c Middling.35 to - Strict Middling.36 to - Good Middling.37 to - SEA ISLAND.-Tho receipts f.r the week of this class of Cotton is about sixty-one (61) bales. C., which are held at our previous quotations, say ll to 12 cents ft lb. for Clean Carolina. The few parcels of Bough that come to market are generally sold for purposes of seed. NAVAL STORES.-Receipts very light We learn of the following transactions: 130 bbls. old No. 2 Rosin at $3 per 280 pounds; 60 bbls. New Virgin at $9 to $10 per bbl. Opaque'has been sold at half rates. 69 bblB. Common Black at $2 per 2S0 pounds; 10 bbls. Spirits Turpentine at 79c. per gallon, tax raid. HAY.-The supply during the week amounts to about 1200 balea Eastern, and 400 bu cs North River. Part of thia had been sold to arrive. 300 bales of Eastern changed hands at $1.70 per hundred, and ?00 bales North Biver on private terms. Ve quote tho article as dr u at about $1.60 for Ncrth River, and $1.70 for Eastern, with a moderate stock. CORN.-The market hos be n supplied with over 80,000 bushels during the week, but prices are firm with an advancing tendency. Sales of 9?00 bushels of v bite has taken place at $1.09 to $1.10 per bushel measure; 2000 bushels white at $1.10 per bushel, woight; 1500 bushels white at $1.13 per bushel, weight. OATS.-The arri vaia during the week have been small, but the supply appears to be sufficient for ?he demand. In largo quantities, this grain may be quoted at 60 to 65c. per bushel, and in a j jobing way about 70c. per bushel. FLOUR. -Large supplies of this article continue to arrive, and the market is dull. Sales of Middling have taken place at $7.37 to $7.50 per bbl. ; Fine at $7.62 to $7.76 per bbl. ; Super at $8 25 to $9 per bbl., and Extra at $9.50 to $10 perbbL Thesi prices are such as are obtained for Northern and Western brande, with which the merket is almost entirely supplied. Baltimore Flour would, in most cases, bring higher rates. BACON.-The market ia abundantly supplied, and the demand is almost entirely in small way for plantation consumption. We quote Shoulders at Ile. to 15c. per lb.; Prune Ribbed Sides at 17 to 17J?O. per lb, and Hams at 22 to 26c per lb. SALT.-There hos been no additional supply received since our last statement The market is still without any wholesale transactions ind remains very dulL We quote nominally, $1 50 to $1 70 per sack. TIMBER.-Our lumber merchants have received a good supply of Pine Timber, aud we ore pleased to note that a number of cargoes have left hero lately for Northern ports. Orlinary Timber is sold at $8 to $12 per M. Shipping Timber $18 to $20 per M, and some extra lots are held at higher price s. Steam Sawed Lum? ber ls selling at $30 to $35 per M, as in quality. DOMESTIC EXCHANGE.-The stringency in tho money mariel has depressed Northern Exchange, and Sight Checks on New York could bo purchased of the best primate drawers yesterday at }? off. The banks are ask? ing )i premium, but are doing but little. Their pur? chasing rates at present are nominal at previous quota? tions. say bills at 5 to 10 days 3,' per cent off, 15 days X off. 30 days 1 per cent off. GOLD_The Brokers are purchasing at 26 and selling at 28, with but a limited demand. Angosta Market. AUGU8TA, April 18.-COTTON.-The market contin? ues dull. There is som) little demand for the boiter grades, say 30 to 3 le for M'ddll ig to Strict Middling and 32c for Good Middling. GOLD -Buying at 127 and ?Mting at 127 SILVKB.-Buy lr g at 120 to 121, and no demand STOCKS ANO BONDS.-Georgia Railroad Stocks 90, and Georgia seven per cent bonds at 90. New Orleans Market. NEW ORLEANS, April 14.-COTTON.-There was again a moderate inquiry this morning, but the move? ment waa checked, both by the high pretensions of factors for desirable lists and the limited extent of the supply offering, and at a later hour still more by in? creased dullness and a further reduction in foreign ex? change. The sales were consequently confined to 1600 bales, taken by nine brokers, at figures showing in? creased irregularity, the better qualities commanding comparatively full prices, while the poorer descriptions sold freely at inside figures. Nothing, however, trans? pired to rtquire any change in our quotations, which we repeat as follows : Ordinary S0@ tlc, good ordinary 32@34c, low middling 36@3 Jc, middling 39@40c. There was very little inquiry to day, and only 20 hbds Light Yellow Clarified Sugar were sold at 1G vic per lb. WESTERN PRODUOE ANO PBOVISIOSS.-Corn is in light supply, and in good demand, and prices aro fuller and show a further upward tendency. HAY.- Oood Hay is in request, but there ls very little or none on hand. Fair H?y haB been selling, in small lots on tho landing at $28 50 per ton. Subsequently more was asked. BRAS -The market ls dull, and there have been only a few small sales at $115 per 100 lbs. LAUD.-There ls only a retail business doing et 19c per lb, for primo in tierces, and 21c in kogs. PORK.-There were only retail Bales to-day at $28 25 to $28 50 por bbl for mess. BACON.-Wo note a very good jobbing demand, which is being supplied at lZ%c to 13??c per lb lor shoulders, 16c for i ibbed sides, 16>ic for clear ribbed rides, ITMo for clear sides, 17>4'c tor plain Hams, and 22 to 23c for su ar-cured. OBREN MEAT -The market is very dull. Shoulders a:c retailing at ll to ll 3-, c., and sides at 13c per lb. WHISK EY.-Western rectified is retailing at $2 25 to 2 31 per gallon. STAU CANDLES-Are dull, and are soiling io small lots at 20 to 22c per lb for short weight and 25c for full weight. BUTTER AND CHEESE.-Good Wostern butter ls get? ting scarce and in request Common descriptions are plenty and dull. C hoe HU ls in good supply, but less in demand. Pearls quiet, at 12c Corm-The balance of the cargo of Bio, per Dller, to arrive, was reported sold, but particulars did not trans? piro.
