SOTTON.-Tho receipts since our last weokly f esta?
ient have beon very limited, and amount to ninety
teles ot Sea Island, and thirteen hunurod and eighty-one
kales of Upland Cotton. Tho extremely limitad stock
.neale kept np prices, to a very high figure daring the
fest five days of the woo'?, and about six hundred bales
wert sold at4Sc. for Middling, 50c. for Striot Middling,
and 63?. ? lb for good Middling Cotton, tax paid. These
pricoa were maintained with much firmness up to \fed
' nesday night, when news was rcceivod that the staple
^ had declined lMc. 9 lb in the New York market, which
sensed a suspension cf business.
On yesterday wc could not learn cf any transa?'.ions,
and consequently omit quotations.
SBA ISLAND COTTON.-The market for this clasa of
.Jotton has been very quiet since our last, and we could
hear of no pales. Our prices of last week may be re?
newed, say fl to $1.50 fl lb.

NATAL STORES.-rho receipts since our last state?
ment have amounted to about 1500 barrels of rosin and
spirits of turpentine, nearly all of which is being shipped
through. Priers remain about tho same as prerious
week, say $12@15 for No. 1 rosin, $9 for No. 2, and (5
to $6 for No. 3.
HAT.-This srticlo continues to arrive in large
amounts. Some 2000 bales received during the previous
week have been sold on private terms, and is being re?
tailed at $1 60 per hundred. The receipts of the present
weok bava beou about ono thousand bales of Eastern
and twelve hundred of North River, part of this supply
being for dealers. Wc learn of sales of 200 bales of
Eastern, slightly damaged, at $1 56 per hundred ; 600
hales North Hirer a' $1 50 per hundred; and 200 bales of
ditto at $1 40 por hundred.
CORN.-Somo seven thousand bushels of this grain
were received carly in thc week by steamer, and about
twelve thousand bushels arrived yesterday from Balti?
more. Sales of some three thousand bushels, to arrive,
took placo at 123 cents t< bushel. Thc demand continues
good and prices are linn.
OATS.-Tho arrivals of thc week amount to somo
thxoo thousand bushels of .Maryl.md, which was mainly
for dealers. The article continues Arm at our previous
quotations-say 70,-j 7.) cents ^ bushel.
FLOUR.-Thc merket is weil giipptied- and sales in
any amount aro difficult. Super may bc quotod at $9.50
?10.00 9 barrel..
BACON.-Then- is a Jai ,<e supply of Shoulders and
jBldes on the market, and sales in any quantity eould ?ot | ]
be.raade except at a very low figure. We quote prices as
nominal.
SALT.-There has been no addition to the steele during
the week, but the supply id largo and the article dull aud
depressed. Wc have hoard of no sale's tinder $2.50 pur
sack.
FREIGHTS arc extremely dull to all points. To Llv
erpoc' they havo declined to j^d. 9 lb. for Upland, aud
ld. for Sea Island Cotton, and dull; To N#w York there

EXCHANGE.-Bills on England have fallon very
much, and wc hear tsf sales as Iowas $0-50. Domestic
Exchange continues about thc same as last week, the
Banks purchasing Sight draft* on New York at 1 por
cont, off; 6 to 10 days, i;? off. The Banken ar? sealing
Sight drafts on New Yorfc at jj per cent. off.
GOLD has declined, and tho Brokers are purchasing
at 10 to 41, and celling at 12 to 43.
WILMINGTON, January 0. - COTTON. - We quoto

middling.

Loss OK THE STEAK Tut; AaeniusA.-The steam
;ug Arethusa, from this port for Philadelphia, took
hu late heavy weather off Cape Lookout, on Sunday,
vhen, finding* it necessary to make a harbor, she put
ibout for Wilmington, N C; but there was so much sea
in thc Cape I-'car Bar that she was unable to cross, aud
fi-as compelled to keep on South: in endeavoring to enter
Jeorgetowu. S C. got ashore on the breakers, where Hbo
bas become a wreck. Niue of the crew were taken off
Lhc beach by Captain Paine, of the steamer Pilot Boy,
who also used his best efforts to get those off who were
ltd] on thc wreck; hut there WU so milch sea on George
own Bar, on Monday, that tho boat was uiiablu to get
Lo thc wreck. A surf-boat was afterward sent to their
lid, and it was thought all thc crew were takeu off.
