aro regularly made up and properly forwarded to
their different dcatinationa. We aincerely hope
that tho temporary postmasters at tho stations, aa
Well aa mail agents on thc routes, will endeavor to
aasiat the officers here in the distribution of the
maila, aa without their helping haud the efforta of
thia office will be useless. We, therefore, respoct
tollv ask all who aro in any way connected with

SIR: I havo received your letter, under date of
July 28th last, in relation to the release of certain
property, Ac.
The several Supervising Agents of this D?part
mont have been instructed to restore to loyal own
ers, and those who have availed themselves of the 11
benefits of tho President's Proclamation of Am
nesty, and who are not excepted therefrom, or who
have obtained from him a special pardon, any ar
ticles of household furniture, booka, or personal
Or family relics which may be in their possession,
on certain conditions.
If tho articles referred to are in tho possession
of Agents of this Department at Charleston, you
should apply to Supervising Special Agent Calhcot
for their release.
