Miss Rosa Branyon, who has been in
school here for the past few months,
returned to her home at Honea Path,

Mr. E. C. Cooper, a native of this
County, died at his home iu Pickeus
County a few days ago, aged 45 years.
A wife and seven children survive him.

Mr. Samuel Fine accidentally shot
himself yesterday afternoon while
handling a pistol at tho Reese House.
The bullet struck his left hand, going
through it and inflicting a painful
wound.

of Big Sandy, Texas, was accidentally
shot by a schoolmate. Threo hours af

inst, says: "Mr. J. L. McGee, of Ander
son, spent several hoursin the city yes

most prominent and popular business
men of his growing city. He is en

business with Mr. McGee for seven

Mrs. Mary Thompson, widow off the
late Beverly Thompson, died at her
home near Hopewell Church on the Kith
inst., in the (?1st year of her age. She.
had been in feeble, health for nearly a
year and at times was a groat sufferer.
She was a most, estimable woman und
was greatlv beloved by a wide circle of
friends. Five children survive her.
Her remains wore interred in the Hope
well churchyard, of which Churchysho
was a most devoted member

Mr. R. Q. Hammond, was found dead
on tho roadside, about three miles east
off the city, last Sunday morning. He
was in the city Saturday night and
started homo with a number of negroes,
all of whom were full of whiskey. On
thc way Ware fell from tho wn^on nnsl
his companions loft bim lying in the
road. Tho night was extremely cold.
Coroner Miller held an inquest, and the
Jury found that the deceased came to
his death from causes unknown.

The hotly of the former was horrihly

The witnesses to lhe accident, declare
that there were no lights on thereat'

opinion of many persons that, there is
criminal carelessness somewhere. The
remains were carried to Iva yesterday
afternoon and buried. The family
have the sympathies of all their friends
in their sore bereavement.
