in days long past, when the late Kev.

to that again. We have stolen the
Sabbath from ( i od and use it for our
own benefit. It WUK a good address
and I wish more people could have
beard it. In speaking of it to another
minister he said: "We have no Sab

say of a people who profess to bo n
Christian people, but, alas! it is too
true, lt is the most common Bin of tile

In Memory of Little J. V. Wilson.
On the morning of Sept. 88th the
Lord sent the Angel of Deatli into the
happy home of Mr. J. V. Wilson and
took ?mt of that home one of the sweet
est little boys that ever brightened any
home. Janies Vivian was about three
years old. We had hoped he might be
spared to brighten that linnie, but God,
in His wisdom, thought host to remove
this little bud that he might bloom in
Iiis paradise above. Everything was ?
done for Iiis relief that faithful hands,
I,rc mpted by loving hearts, could ?lo,
mt all to no purpose. His little life
on earth went out tyul his spirit went

Oh, nat in cruelty, not in wrath,

Tin' (hand Canyon.
Mu. KIUTOH: Two weeks ago I called
attention tn the desirability of devel
oping the Grund Canyon property on
upper Main Street. The expert from
kalamazoo who, it was thought, had
started by this route in search of that
undiscovered bourne from which no
traveler has ever returned, has .?nally
triumphed ami found bis way io the
surface again, having wandere?!around
in the subterranean caverns two entire
weeks, till lie found an outlet r'. tho
shaft or crater, a few ftet east of tho
Excelsior Oil Mills. The hapless cou
ple of adventurers, whose horse shicil
at a passing bicycle an?l precipitated
them into its cavernous depths, insti
tuted search for ourKalamazoo intuid,
and all three, including the horse and
buggy, drove out of tho crater at the
Oil Mill this morning. The expert's
report, tiled with the Grand Canyon
Development Company and Suicide
Club this morning, disparages tho use
of the Canyon as an artificial lake on
account of the insufficiency of the wa
ter supply to fill it, the time required
lu'ing estimated at something over
twelve billion centuries. It was then
agreed to preserve it intact for tho use
of tile Suicide Club.

Preacher Hanged in Texas.
DALLAS, TLX AS. Oct. 27.-The Kev.
(i.V.. Morrison was banged at 12 o'clock
to-day at Vernon, Texas, for wife mur
der. Ile met his death resignedly. On
the scaffold lie saul to tho select party
of twohty witnesses permitted at the
execution:
"I nm innocent. Circumstances, over
which I had no control, have placed mo
in this position. I have taken my
trouble in private to God. I admit that
1 have acted indiscreetly. 1 have done
no worse, however, than hundreds of
men who stain! high in the religious,
social, business and official circles of
your Stat?'. I have done nothing to
confess. 1 nm in the hands ot my
Maker. He knows I am innocent."
Morrison's neck was broken and his
death appeared to be painless.
The crime for which thc Kev. G. E.
Morrison paid the death penalty was
the poisoning of his wife in October,
isl)?. The motive for the crime was to
rid himself of a pretty, amiable, loving
wife in order to marry a lady possessed
of means, ono hundred t hon jami dol
