Last Thursday morning, as the sun
darted on bis day's journey, and
everybody was at their duty, the young
people were thinking of the jolly time
they were expecting that night. It was
a sociable given at Mr. I*. II. Brown's
in honor of Miss Pet Kinley, who is one
among the belles of our community.
Thi' night came; the wind ceased its
harsh blowing and ber '-ne a gentle
breeze. Thru the boys anti girls came
pouring in until the room was well fill
ed, when, ut the suggestion of Miss
Pet, they started their fun, which con
sisted in all thc funniest, plays, laugh
ing and talking, until it came to the
spinning of the pinte. When "Hen's"
number was called he was so anxious
to get it before it fell, he tell down
upon it. The plate was well supplied
with molasses, which, of course. Hen
got over his hands and face. He was
quite astonished when he found what
he had gotten into, but the crowd was
sot/nll ?d' laughter that he said nothing
but made for the wash pan and water.
Hr rarrful itexl time, Hrn. and carry
some bread with you. and not try to
'lick" the plate with your nose. So
lite titur passed, ami when we looked
out in th(' heavens, what must attract
our attention but HM? brightness ol' the
beautiful moon, with all the ninny
brant ifni stars around her. lt wits one
of those nights when sweethearts love
to walk and tell each other of their
love, when the poets think of their
most beautiful sayings. Hut, oh! this
beautiful moon had reached half-way
on her majestic tour, and the clock wns
telling the time when all should retire,
so bidding each adieu, and wishing to
inert them all soon again we all parted
to our homes, leaving nothing but the
thoughts of the happy hours. We hope
not to let this be til?: last sociable nor
the lust time we meet in pleasure.
Wishing every body a happy life, we
are titi'same SCHOOL HOY.
