Since our trouble with Spain began the people of Anderson have been thoroughly aroused and ready to respond to the first call in defense of our grand old Republic. As we announced last week a Compauy of brave, patriotic young men has been or ganized lo go to the front, and since Mon day they have anxiously awaited orders to move. This Company will be in the quota from the Fifth Regiment. Col. Boyd, of Greenville, came over yesterday and inspected the Company. He was more than pleased. Thia morning the Company left fur Columbia and were joined at Balten by two Companies from Greenville. All tho Slate troops will be mobilized in Columbia. The Anderson Volunteers, escorted by the P. M. I. Cadets, Confederate Veterans and tho members of Camp W. W. Hum phreys, Sons of Confederate Veterans, formed in line at the City Hill this morn ing, aud, under the inspiring strains of the Anderson Cornet Bind, marched to the depot, being greeted along the streets by thecheersof hundreds of people and the happy smiles of the fair women. An immense crowd gathered at the depot, and Col. J. N. Brown, one of An derson's honored Veterans, made a patri otic address to the Company, urging the young men to do their duty and always cheerful!v obey the commands of the officers-. It was a touching scene as the train rolled out, there scarcely being a dry eye among the friends and loved ones of the gallant Volunteers-. The following is the roll of the Com pany : Captain-H. H.
