C., by every able-bodied male person between the ages of io und ii? years, ?xsept such an are exempt by thu law? ot this State, and any person may commute the samo by pay ing into the City Treasury the sum of two dollars, and if eoy person liable to perform Raid work shall fail to perform or commute the same In the time for the collection of City taxes, then lt shall be the duty of the Chief of Police or one of bin assistants to give notice to said per son to perform ?aid work or commute the same, and if ?aid person ?ball fail within 2-1 hours, nf .or being duly notified, to perform said work or commute the same, then he shall be guilty of a misde ?nesuc-.and upon conviction thereof shall be lined not l?ss than $b? nor moretean $12, or be imprisoned net lesa than 1~> day? nor more than :i0 day?, in the dis cretion of the Mayor. SKC. !?. All returns of all proporly, whether real, personal or mixed, liable for taxation in the City of Anderson, S. C., shall be made under oath to the City Clerk on or before the 20th January, 181*8.- Such returns shall state whether the person making the samo ia liable for street tax provided in Section 8 of this Ordinance or not. The return shall also contain a statement of each parcel or lot cf land, TV hero situated, the n u mber cf acres contained in each separately, with the number and character of buildings on each lot or parcel respectively. And the return ?hall state the amount or value of all mortgages, notes and accounts cwned by tho person by whom or for whom the return is made. And should amy return so made contain any incorrect statement, or the fUll amount or true value of auy property be not returned, in the judg ment or the City Clerk, the said Clerk shall inform himself, from the County Auditor's books or otherwise, of the cor rect statement to be made or the full amount or true value so returned or which should be returned, and shall .change said return so that it shall con tain a correct statement or full amount or true value of the property so returned, or which should be returned for taxation. And in case any person should fall to re turn for taxation .toy property owned hy him or held by h i m'a? executor, admin istrator, guardi?n, assignee, receiver, trustee, or in any fiduciary capacity, lt shall be the duty of the City Clerk to as certain tho value of all such property and assess the same nfl provided hy the char ter of this City, with the penalties now provided by law for (he collection of*State und County taxes.
