The Stat? Sunday School Convention.
The Executive Committee of tho ?tato
Sunday School Convention, (inter-do*
nominattonal,) met In Columbia on
Thursday', May 14th, and fixed upon
August 18lh and 20th, as tho time for
holding tho State Convention in that
oliy. Tho Committee, in its call for the
Courention, says:
The Committees that are already organ
ized aro requested to hold their County
Conventions as soon as praoilcsblo and
elect delegates to tho 8tato Convention.
In those Counties whore uo County organ
ization exists, the County Secretarios ap
pointed tv tho State Convention aro
urged to call a Convention at aa oarly a
dato as possible, that a County organisa
tion may bo effected. If the County Sec
retaries do not issue a call within a reason
oblo timo, tho Executive Cotntnlttoo asks
for corrcapoudenco with any Sunday
School woikors, and will aid in every
po&fdbio way in effecting County organi
zations. Tho Executive Committee are
not empowered to fix the number of del
egates from the Counties, but would sug
gest the same number as each County ia
outitled to in both houses of the State
legislature. Tho call ls urgent. A com
plete State and County organization is
greatly needed. No worthier cause is
presented to earnest Christian workors.
Our Stale, with so large a proportion of
our people communicants in the various
denominations, cannot afford to be boh 1 nd
in thia work, which is ongaging the best
efforts of tho best pee plo of thc church
everywhere.
An attractive programme for the ap
proaching State Convention has boon ar
ranged, and no effort will bo spared to
make tho occasion a great success. Ar
rangements for tho accommodation of
delegates on the railroads and while in
the city will be made aud published lu
duo timo.
Anderson County has no inter-donom
i national organizion, and we hope some
of our Sunday Behool workers will make
an effort to perfect ono at once. Our
County should bo ropresonted In tho
State Convention.
