About twenty-five thousand dollars ortho capital stock has been paid in, and aftor all expenses tho Association hon assets amounting to about forty-two thousand dollars- It will thus bo soen that to far tho management has been most successful. Tho earnings opto this time havo been about sixty per cent upon the stock paid in, and the As sociation has six more years in which to operate. It is not probable that it will require more than four year? longer to .wind up by the limitation which requires it to clo8o whenever the profus roach one huudred per cent upon tho stock sub scribed. The pro?ts ot two years will reach twenty per cont, when only one fourth of tho capital boa boon paid in. The profits by discounts and interest tcgethor will increase hereafter, and by this means the Association is expected to bo brought to sn earlier dose than wan at first expected. The Norman-Perchoron Horse Compa ny aro doing a valuable work for thia and tho Rurrounding Comidos. They havo several very baudsomo horses, which attract the interest of our people .whorever they aro seen. Thoy aro tbe finest draft and farm animals in tho world. They aro easily kept, Htid do tlip heavlast work with < ase. After soeing them our people aro invariably impressed with tho idoa thal tho stock of thia coun try might to be largor and stronger to do tho most efficient work, and they can adopt no moro successful plan for accom plishing thia purpose than by raising Norman-Porcheron colts. Those colts grow up for uso fully one or two years soonor than the ordinary stock, nnd aro, for their purposes, much more useful. From sovonty-flvo to one huudred thou sand dollars is sent out of Anderson County every yoar for horses and mules, which ought to bo mined at home. Upon a farm with proper pasturage, tho ex penne of raising a horse or mulo colt would not be near aa much as the animal when grown would cost. Anderson County could savo fully fifty thousand dollars every year by raisin;' horse and rn nie colts. The attention of our people has been turned largely in that direction for tbe past year or two, and tho result is that there aro now more colts in the County than over before. It ie a stop in the right direction, and should bo perse vered in. There in money in lt. On lost Thursday, tho 9tb inst., a col o red wongan named Fanny Lignn was attracted by the groans of n man te a creek on Mr. W. A. Neal's plantation, near where abe was washing, and upon going thither fouiid an immigrant from Poland, named John Bargiul, lying in tho creek rosting upon bis elbow, and bleeding .fro? his mouth. She immedi ately mado tho facts knowa, and Mr. Barglal was carried to his brother's houso, where lt was.ascertained that be was shot through the stomach. Dr. Ducket waa immediately sent for, but could do noth ing to save the wounded man, as his inju ries were beyond tho possibilities of human skill. The wounded man at first did not seem to know that ho was ahot, and. afterwards told his brother that he shot himself on purpose to end his life, as be had been slok for a long time, and did not oxpect ever lo get well. Afterwards his mind scorned clearer, and he told sev eral persons that ho was walklngont with his pistol and started a -covey or par tridges, and tried to shoot them, but hi? pistol failing to fire he was examining it, and acoidently discharged it with the fatal result a tated. There wore no tracks other than his own about the creek, and his pistol was found about ono hundred yards off.. There woro no signs or n etrugglo, Or evidence of any font play. On Friday morning ho . died, and Coroner Nance hold an inquest that afternoon, at which tho jury adopted tho version o? an ofccl dontil rhootlng, and rendered a verdict in accordance thorewlth. An Effort to Build a Hotel. Thero ls an effort being made kt Ander son to supply a great want, which now exists in our city, by building aoommo dious'and handsome hotel. A number of gentlemen met on last Monday after noon at tho IKTBLUOKNOER Office, and agreed to attempt the organisation of a Joint stock company, by securing the assignment of one hundred and twenty five shares of tho stock of the Building and Loan Association, for which stock In the hotel company Is to be Issued to the members In lieu of the Bollding ?nd Loan stock assigned. The company then propose borrowing the money from the B.&L.
