The second rain of any consequence that
ne have had in this city in about twelve
ivoeks fell on last Monday afternoon and
light. Other sections of the County were
?Iso visited willi a good rain. It has been
cloudy the greater portion of the time since,
md ?n Tuesday evening the indications
vere that a good rain visited portions of
he County, though none fell In the city.
iVe are informed that in some sections the
ain was very heavy, and washed tho land
:onsiderably. There was a large quantity
if unpicked cotton in the fields, and we
lrcsUiT.e it was injured to some extent.
Jur farmers, however, needed rain to pre
pare their ground tor the reception of small
rrain, and a great many of them had not
jeen able to get a stand of turnips on ac
count of the dry weather. The benefit of
he rain, therefore, will more than compen
sate them for the damage done to the cot
Ion. We hope our farmers will make good
use of the season and sow all the small
grain and turnips possible. Every availa
ble piece of ground should be utilized. It
is not yet too late to sow barley patches for
grazing purposes. A barley patch, how
ever small, will bea great saving to your
corn crib next Spring.

"I reached Westminster August the 19th.,
that night I was seized with a violent at

Tho pains kept on increasing and tho ac
tions on my bowels were more frequent.
The usual " remedies, Paregoric, Jamaica
Ginger, Ac, were promptly, vigorously and
persistently used, hut without avail. The
symptoms were growing worse and these
remedies were more than useless. Hy a
lucky and happy thought Norman's Neu

medicine I was in the irreatcst agony, my

exhausted as ?rarcelv to be able to speak
above a whisper. The relief was so sudden
and so complote, that I could hardly realize
it, and I knew no bounds to the expression
