F. Craylon A ?ons have one of thc Osborne Harvester and Binders, which they have been operating on their model farms near this city. It works quite perfectly, cutting thc grain smooth and clean, and tying it up in large bundles with a hemp cord. It is quite interesting to watch thc working of this machine, and see how completely it does the work of many men, much better than the men themselves would do. Mr. W. N. Mitcholl, a prominent and respected'eitizen of Belton, died at his resi lenee thero on Wednesday, the 30th of May, at thu age of 07 years, from the .'fleets of Rheumatism, with which he has suffered for several years. Mr. Mitchell .vas for a long time a merchant lu Belton, md always maintained the good will of his mstotners and thc confidence of his ac (Uah)lances. Our people should learn to patronize Dine industries and thereby build up thc itablishment of all kinds of small ruanu ctories. For instance, Messrs. They do not tiki thc inferior buggies which are sold at ich low prices from Western factories, icause their reputation will not permit ern to do so, and because there is more oney in repairing the Western work than putting np similar vehicles. They keep large force of skilled labor constantly at ark, and arc doing a prosperous and owing business. If our people will only ve them a call before investing in any nd of a vehicle, they can soon see that it to their interest to patronize this home ilustry. These gentlemen are thoroughly iable and progressive. They arc gradu y enlarging their buildings and capacity . work. They now have the largest fae ry in the upper part of the State except eonvilla's, and are well prepared to com te with it in both quality and price of irk. 'n Discounting the liens. The Greenville News of last Saturday ntaincd the following : A gentleman from Brushy Creek town ilp, Anderson, brought to tho city yester iy the first coop of chickens hatched by i incubator ever seen here. There were I of them, "frying size," in line condition. Iiey were hatched by an incubator of bis vn construction, being an improvement I a comparatively worthless machine, the eht for which be purchased at the North, cost him $0.05, and after that lie had no tpenscs except the cost of eggs and oil. e began hatching out eggs last Spring, the achino taking 00 at a time. He hatchod it about 1,000 chickens, and has lind an mndance of them to eat, eating no bacon id Consuming four or live a day in bis nilly. He now has between 300 and 400 ilckens in his yard, and will have them to II from now on. His only bad luck has ?en with cholera, which has cut clown his .ofit/> very considerably, but he very just regards his incubator os a success. U ill be seen that it pays handsomely as a Hirco of food supply, even if it docs no ore. The Park isa very lovely, romantic place indeed, sit uated in thc centre of the, town, and the mineral spring situated in it is noted for ?ts health-giving qualities. Amiss thc street from the Park stands that excellent institution of learning, the Williamson Female College, which is just now dosing a successful session. This College is grow* in? more popular every year, and is one of the permanent institutions of this County. Dr. Lander's system of teaching is some what different from other similar school1?, and by his increasing patronngo and influ ent? tho system seems tn give entire satis faction to its patrons. When the hour for dinner anived we found ourselves seated at the hotel table, where we enjoyed a most excellent dinner. This hotel is kept by M. II. Deal, a former resident of Anderson. The Lone Stars are ;nod players, and have one of thc most irolicient clubs in the up country. The game was witnessed by a large crowd if the ladies and gentlemen of William ton and community. Dr. Lauder also lenuitted the young ladies of his College o he present. Everything passed off very ilcasantly.
