A wagon loaded with cabbage and apples from the mountains appeared on our'streets on lust Monday drawn by two milch cows. It was a novel sight to us. Wc have often seen an ox team, but had never before wit nessed a wagon drawn by milch cows. In reply to a question ns lo how the cows worked, the mountaineer said they were | the equals of un ox team. " Hartwell Sun : "A man's wife in Hart County luis given birth to twenty-one chil dren, and has boen so nnrortunate as to raise every one o f them. Mr. Aaron Hull died at his residence in Varennes township, in this County, on Monday night, the 5th inst., after a brief j illness, He was seventy-nino years old at the time of his death, and lind always been a remarkably strong and \igorons man. He had been n member or F!ac Rock Ilap tist Church for many years, and was a good man, highly respected for upright character and honorable dealings with men. His remains were interred in the Flat Kock Church Yard on Tuesday after appropriate funeral services, which were attended by a large congregation of the relatives and friends of tue deceased. Last Tuesday night was an unusually dark one, and those of our citizens who had occasion to be on the streets can unite with us in testifying to the admirable condition in which the street lamps are kept at pres ent. From the University heights the Court House Square presents really a beau tiful appearance at night. The sidewalks, too, despite the recent bad weather, are in a better condition than wo have ever known them at this season of the year befors. Our present Council is composed of ener getic and progressive men, who are display ing much wisdom and zeal in the adminis tration of tho affairs of the city. A gentleman of ?bis city, who recently bad occasion to take n trip over the Colum bia A Greenville, Air Line and Hpnrtanburg A Union Railroad*, says these roads ar? really practicing very rigid economy at present. During lils trip ho only found one tin cup on each train for thu purpose of va riating the thirst of th? passengers, and it wac generally kept in thc car of "Uncle Ham's" employees. Archer, in this city, n little, alter 12 .. clock a. tn. on last Friday morning. Miss Archer bud been suffering for some twelve mouths past with a pulmonary uuci-tiou, but was in usual health upon the day proceeding lier death, which was quite suddenly, caused by hemorrhage. Mi*s Archer was in the morning <>f life, |Mis*essingall thosequahtiej of loveliness and purity which au adorn woman. She was universally esteemed ami admired by those who knew her, and immy were the friends w ho were saddened und grieved by her untimely death. Major departed this life in N'ovembi lost in Texas. He had lived in that Stal for twenty-five or thirty years, and raise? as I understand, a large ami interastin family.
