One of our citizens last August discov ered a "flee Tree," and at once marked ita locution, intending to go back to it at some future day and secure its "sweet" contents. A few days ugo be thought of his tree, ami concluded to go out and gather his honey. Accordingly he invited several of his friends to go with him, taking along several iarge tin cans to put his boney in. He soon found the tree, and immediately set to work to fell it to the ground, at the same time thinking that he would gather enough boney to supply his table fur several week?. You may imagine how blank his counte nance appeared, when, after filling his cans With beautiful honey comb, bc discovered that there was not a drop of honev in the cells. An almost serious cutting affray occurred at the shop of Joe Lee, colored", one und three-quarter miles South of thc city, on last Saturday evening about dark. The reporter could not get thc full facts uf the a dray, as none of the participante seemed to know how it occurred. As far as we could learn, however, it seems that two white men by the name of Cromer were returning home from the city in an intox icated condition. When they reached Lee's they halted and went in, where they became involved in a difficulty with some negroes. Ono of thc Cromen received two severe cuts in the head, and the other an almost fatal cut in the arin, severing an artery. TLey then left Leo's and went to the house of Mr. John McAdams, who re side ?t the place recently occupied by Hov. W. II. Ki.ig. Mr. McAdams, seeing that the men were bleeding very profusely, sent to tba city for Dr. It. A. Reid, who imme diately went :o them and attended to their wounds. The wounds of the men are not necessarily dangerous, but the one that hud the urtcry severed would probably have bled to death but for the prompt attention of Dr. Reid. A New Kiud of Insurance. Among thc charters granted at the late session of thc Uoneral Assembly was one incorporating "The Planter's Mutual Aid Association of Anderson." Ita corporators are Messrs. P. K. McCully, G. P. Tolly, J. D. Maxwell, W. W. Humphreys, C. A. Reed, J. M. Cathcart, J. E. Allen and T. D. Sloan. Thc capital stock of thc company is fixed at 310,000 in shares of $100. A majority of the stockholders have the right to increase the capital stock to $500,000. The company has the right to undertake policies of insurance and "indemnify plan ters against loss in their crops from hail, worms and storms, or either of such causes, in this State or elsewhere." The liability of the stockholder besides thc valne of his shares is limited to 10 per cent, of the par value of his shares at the time thc demand was made. The company cannot begin business until its capital stock has been subscribed and one-half or more of it bas been actually paid in. This kind of insu rance is a novel undertaking, but, if well organized and successfully carried out, will be tho source of very great safety to plant er?. Ensilage, Mr. J. C. Stribling, of Pendleton, S. C., contributes a very practical und interesting article on "Ensilage" to the annual report (1S82) of the Commissioner of Agriculture of this State. He says: "Our experience with ensilage so far bas been satisfactory. One can calculate on saving ull the forage ho grows absolutely without risk of the weather. . . At present it appears that the pea vino ia tho most desirable plant to ensilage on account of its being, in the first place, more nutritious feed; sec ondly, thc pea enriche* tho land instead ol impoverishing it, Oo corn fodder does.'1 Mr. Stribling esti-nates that his ensilage cured this year co..t bira fl.27 por ton, a lit tle over three cents per day to feed grown cottle, ninety cents per month or $10.80 per year. He says any one that can dig a hole in the ground with perpendicular wall? and square corners can make 'a good silo. A silo 21 fest long, 12 feet deep and 9 feet wide, contains 84 cubic yards, and costa $17 to dig. This pit holds enough feed for about twenty bead of grown stock seven .con ths in the year. These statements are based upon several yera experience and may be relied upon as strictly correct. The farmers of the South can, in addition to their Winter pastures, prepare these silos and save thousands of dollars that aro now annually expended for an inferior grade of hay. _m_, Hymeneal.
