IX Seneca City never becomes a city it
will not be becauso it is not a highly fa
vored locality In point of nntural advan
tages. Besides being situated in a rich and
fertile region, abounding in gold mines
and mineral springs, it has tho addi
ditlonal advantage of being located at tho
crossing of two great railroads. But in
addition to all this, we hear not' that near
this city Micro has recently been discovered
by an Englishman a mine abounding in
diamonds of tho finest quality. A gentle
man of our town who was in that city one
day last weak had 'ho pleasure of seeing
and handling a few of the precious stones
in the rough stato. A correspondent of tho
Charleston Ifews and Courier, writing from
Seneca under date of May 28, says of this j
discovery : "Thero has been much excite
ment in our community for tho past few !
days caused by the discovery of diamonds
in an old gold mint. Foryears gold mining
has been carried on to a greater or less ex
tent in this vicinity. Some two or threo
years since Col. John Cochran mined quito
extensively, with what success was not
generally known. Some two weeks since
Mr. Joseph Blnnny, Jiailing from England,
carno to Seneca on b's way from western
North Carolina, prost 'jcling for mica, and
was Induced to go down and look around
where Col. Cochran had been mining for
gold. He went to panning on a farm ad
joining thc Cochran raine, and was reward
ed by washing out several diamonds. He
sent some of them to Tiffany & Co., of Now
York, and one of their experts carno out
and pronounced them genuine straw col
ored diamonds, equal to the African dia
monds. Mr. Blanny has purchased eight
hundred feet square from tho owners of thc
land for $2,000, and proposes to go regularly
into tho business, not as a stock company,
but on his own account." There ib a for
tune undoubtedly for every ono of tho citi
zens of this favored section in the business
of hunting diamonds, if they can only be
rando to realizo their opportunity. They
ought to quit everything else and go to
digging-digging for diamonds, wo mean.
Of courso, when they all get a bushel or two
apiece, they will be generous enough to
8cotter them around among their neighbors
and friends, of whom wo are so fortunato
as to bo one. We always havo said that
tho futuro had a grand destiny in store for
Seneca City, though wo little thought it
would bo attained so soon. We might add
that nearly all thoso who huvo made great
fortunes, however, in mining operations
havo done it by "selling out."

GIN, and CONDENSER,
THIS b the 60th year of tb^ Daniel Pratt Cotton Oin Business, during which time they
have manufactured f -er ?2.000 Gins, Which are used In every cottton-growing State .?'
In the Union, In Mexico, South America, JJritiBh East Indies, and in almost every other
country where cotton Is grown.
The Revolving Head placed in tho end of the cotton-box prevent the Gin from chok
ing and the roll from breaking. Any common plantation hand being ablo to feed the
Gm satisfactorily. Tho Feeder is superior, to any other machine rf tho kind In use. They
are ?imp?o in construction, and easily managed. They stand upon tho floor, and aro
therefore not so hard to get at. . Tho Condensons equal to any in uso--wo believe superior
to any now made. Tho lower end of thocylcnder being open, all dirt from tho fiat is
driven through the floor by the air from tho gin-brush. . By tho use of this Condensi ir tho
