The old lady and tho girls thought year before last that he, the old mnn, would have to buy somo cloth on credit. They rigged up tho f'-l spinning wheels and tho war timo h .-n nnd made thal cloth. Tbis kept him from buying on credit, nnd left him with money in his ?locket. The next year ho used it closo y, and bought entirely for cash. At the end of last year ho had eight baloo of cotton. It brought him four hundred and threo dollars. Ono hundrod and twenty-six dollars of that money paid cash ail his accounts this year and pur chased him some valuable farming im plements. Ho bns now two hundred and seventy-seven dollars nt intorcat. He hus also ten bales of cotton made this f'ear, which ho says bc will sell whenever io pleases. Ile bas a crib full of corn, has wheat, bals? pests, potatoes in abundance, and a fino lot of hogs nnd cattle, all raisod at home. Tho war proved to the contrary. Let all thc cotton made call for cash, and not go to paying high credit accounts. This is the way a sensible old farmer views thc situation.
