Week or Prayer. The Pastors of the Churches in Anderson having consulted together have r.grecd io invite you all again, Christian brethren, and tho whole community, to unite with them in thc observance of the Week of Prayer, commended to our notice by thc Evangelical Alliance. For several years past we have united in this town in daily morning services during the first week of January in conformity with thc invitation of this great association of Christians, and many of oar people bear testimony to the pleasure and profit with which they have attended these meetings. Though the Hine is probably Ibu most in convenient to us of any other season of thc year, yet the attendance, even on very in clement mornings, has been good and some times large, thus affording a good test of the interest felt in an effort to reall?v the unity of all Christians. But it was doubtless thought by those who selected the time, that, though the season was usually cold and unfavorable, yet this circumstance was greatly overbalanced hy thc fact that it was the juncture when thc old year had closed with its memories of good will and the new year opened with its prospects and hopes ; and therefore thc most fit moment to give expression to our sympathies with, and call forth our interest in, the great cause o* Christianity. Thc programme of services, commencing January 5th and ending Jan uary 12th, will bo found in the papers gen erally, and will be substantially followed in our services, yet with any variations which may seem desirable as the week progresses. From the breadth ami variety of thc topics al' may bc accommodated in their preferen ces as to subjects, and wc hops that thc meetings wilt be considered open to all to express themselves. Tb? boura of service will bo announced from thc pulpits on Sunday. January 5th. D. K. F.
