Three generations of thc Sberards have kept up this store almost without interruption, and the present pro prietor, Mr. Thomas A. Sberard, can hope fully expect to transmit the establishment to the fourth generation, represented hy a young scion of the house bearing his name and lineage. Tbs bull-dosing and eccentric young nen who conduct the Abbeville Medium, un mindful of tbe old adage that "truth is mighty and will prevail," recently attempt ed to show that the senior editor of the Ia TXLuaEncxB was responsible for the low price of cotton ! We have not sold a pound of cotton this season, and tn truth have not ginned any of our crop yet, aa wc are walt ing for a rise in the Abbeville market, where we propose to offer the greater part of the crop before a great while. In fact, our cot ton wrs planted expressly for that market, and was never intended for home consump tion. The Carswell Institute is rapidly develop ing thc resources of that neighborhood, and in a short time we may expect a considera ble town around it. Mr'j E. D. Prulett hat lately creced a boarding-house, when pupils ?ra accommodated with good board at cheap rates, t Mr. Samuel A. Dean built a cottage there last ' year, and Dr. Milford i; now building a house f<?r Mr. Ramsey si Greenville County, who is educating h? children at the Institute. Rev. W. E.
