The merchants of Anderson have agreed
to close their stores on Friday, the 27th day
of October inst., for the purpose of attend

and Mechanics' Association of Anderson.
Parties tassa the town or country will do
weft to note this agreement, as no business

be open in Anderson on Frida'/ of the
Fair week. This action on the part of our
merchants is a proper and considerate one,
as it allows their clerks and employees an
opportunity of a holiday to enjoy the Fair

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
A young ina,n named Frank Holden at

- Mr: Milnm's pistol from over the clock,
where it was usually kept, ?nd went out
into the orchard, where he mude the attempt
at suicide. The ball entered his left side,
inflicting a flwh wound only, which is not
very severe. At last accounts, the young
man was doing quite well, and says he will
make no further attempt on his own life.
Ile is not more than eighteen years old, and
some difficulty with his father has caused

that he had seen affidavit* whici. war? made

they will amount to nothing beyond patting

that there is and will be no resistance to
arrest in this County, and if the Republican
