' T* Raise Supplies for the Tom of Anderson
FOR THE
Year ending 31st December, 1875.

?e & ordained by the Intendant and Wardens
of the Town of Anderson in Council assem?
bled, and by the authority of the same, that
i tax for the sums, and in the manner herein
lifter named, shall be raised and paid into
the ?public treasury of the said Town, for the
uses and services thereof; that is to say :
On Real and Personal Property.
Section i. Twenty-five cents on every
.hundred dollars worth of real and personal
property, other than the Carolina Collegiate
Institute, Greeley Institute and the Churches
of the Town, for the purpose of paying the
expenses of the Government of the Tewn and
past indebtedness of the same.
Drays, Carriages and other Vehicles.
Sec. 2. The annual tax on all Drays drawn
by two or more horses, kept or used for hire,
Ten Dollars each; and on all Carriages drawn
by two or more horses, Two Dollars and Fifty
Cents each; and on all other Vehicles on
springs drawn by one horse, One Dollar and
Fifty Cents each; on each Wagon drawn by
two or more horses, Two Dollars and Fifty
Cents each; and on each one-horse Wagon,
One Dollar and Fifty Cents.
Road and Strebt Tax.
. Sec 3. That all persons liable to work on
the Streets, Ways and Roads, be required to
render Six days' labor on said Streets, or have
the right to commute the same by paying the
sum. of Two Dollars; and if any person liable
to tills duty shall fail or refuse to make pay?
ment by the time hereinafter specified, shall
be held liable to the penalties as provided by
law.
Itinerant Traders or Auctioneers.
Sec. 4. Five Dollars a day by any Itinerant
Trader or Auctioneer, offering for sale within
'the limits of the Town of Anderson any Goocb
Wares or Merchandise at Auction or otherwise,
?without having paid the above specified tax,
-shall be fined in the discretion of the Council
for each day he or they may so offer; Provided,
the provisions of this Ordinance shall not be
so constructed as to apply to the ordinary deal?
ers in Grain, Fruit, Potatoes, Tobacco, Iron
Ware, Earthen Ware or other produce or man?
ufactures of like character.
Shows and Exhibitions.
Sec. 5. There shall be levied a tax of One
Hundred Dollars on each and every exhibition
of any Circus or Menagerie exhibiting during
the day, and Fifty Dollars at night, within the
?corporate limits of the Town of Anderson.
On all other Shows or Exhibitions given for
profit, gain or reward, a tax of Ten Dollars
shall be charged for each and every exhibition.
On all Entertainments, places of amusement
opened or given for profit, gain or reward, a
tax1 of Five Dollars shall be charged for each
?and every night or day such entertainment
may be given, or place of amusement opened.
SBC 6. And be it further ordained, That the
taxes on Real Estate shall be paid according
the valuation by the Town Assessors, and all
other taxes according to the returns made on
oath to the Clerk of the Council.
Sec 7. And be it further ordained, That all
returns shall be made on or before the 1st day
of February, 1875, and all taxes shall be paid
on or before the 1st day of March next, except
Tax on Omnibusses, Hacks, Carriages, Buggies,
Wagons, Drays, etc., kept for hire, wjiich shall
fee paid before such vehicles are allowed to run;
and persons who shall fail to make their re?
turns within the time specified, shall be assessed
by the Clerk of Council, and if any person or
persons shall refuse or neglect payment of the
Taxes herein levied within the time specified,
the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and
required to add twenty per cent, penalty to
amount of the Tax of the person thus refusing
or,neglecting payment of their Tax; and if
the per cent, and Tax is not paid within twenty
days, it shall be the duty of the Clerk to issue
executions therefor immediately and collect the
asms by due process of law.

sembled, That the Ordinance passed and rati?
fied January 1st, 1873, entitled "An Ordinance
to prevent Cattle from running at large within
certain limits of the Town of Anderson," be,
and the same is hereby, amended as follows:
Sec. 5. The Ordinance referred to above
shall include Goals, Mules, Horses, Colts, Jacks
and Jeanette, said stock ennumerated above
shall net be allowed to run at large during any
portion of the year.
Done and ratified in Council, and the Seal of
the Corporation of said Town affixed there?
