DIED, at the-residence of her uncle, Mr. Jsiraes 'G. Keys, near Anderson; 3." ft, Miss ARABELLA ELIZABETH LEYvTSl, youngest daughter of Robert Ii. and Juliet A. Lewis, de? ceased, on Sunday 31st August, at 12 p.. m., at the age of 22 years, 11 months and 18 clays. The Jirtbject of this notice was a young wo? man of a truly- lovely and Christian spirit. Though not a member of the Church, she was, we believe, in habitual communication with h$r Saviour in prayeir, and walked before her Sneration in the exercise of all the virtues of | irist ianity. Born at Dahlonega, Georgia, she was consecrated to God in baptism inner in? fancy by believing parents. At- a very early age she was left an orphan, with several broth? ers and sisters. But it would seem that a fond mother had sowed seed which was to spring up into eternal life. The gracious promise, "I wfiU be a God unto thee md thy seed after tbee," was verified in the closing experience of her ttife. With emphasfci aitd joy she testified her love fo;: the Lord Jeans Christ, and tho' desi? ring to depart, yet wished also to live that her service might be given to Christ. We shallnot soon forget with what meekness and docility she listened to the Word of God, and with what evident satisfaction iahe embraced the promise, "Him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out." Thus refreshed #n spirit, hopeful and peaceful, she 'entered the valley of the shadow of death, holding the garment of Him she loved astd trusted. "In the cold grave without a stain, We place thy gentle form to-day, Bnt hope to meet it yet again, When the long nig&t has passed away.'' Ifculy, God is no> respecter of persons, but callcth whom He will into His kingdom on earth and to their final accoaut. Death sways its mighty sceptre, and cuts its way into every conamuTsityaad every family circle. That of | S A HUES. J* and wife Louisa N. Emerson has bean invaded arid robbed of two of its bright? est, stars, its tenderest buds, its sweetest flow era. Eva E?erscoj was taken sick on Sunday, the last <day of August, and died on Tuesday, 2nd of September, aged 8 years'and 2 months, was buried on Wednesday, 3rd instant. On Thursday,iSept. 4, her little brother, Julian Preston Emerson, was attacked, and on Sat? urday, Sept 6, he. too, yielded up his gentle infant spirit into the hands of Him who gave it. He was 4 years and 5 months old. Thus, in four days, the :Eamily was called upon to give np their choicest treasures, the two young? est of the household, which made their woun? ded hearts bleed at every pore; "but Ho who ?tempers the wind to the shorn lamb," is ever present to comfort and to heal. May they look onto Him. realizing fully that He doeth all things well. He has taken them to Himself; they can no more behold them here, no more clasp them in their fond embrace, but to them they can go by making their calling and elec? tion sure, and with them find an eternal dwell? ing; place in the Kingdom of God and of Christ. May each one thither go, is the prayer of their sympathizing brother, M. McGee. JOHN L. HOLLAND was bora September 4,1843, and died at his residence in Anderson Co;iuty on the 28th of July last, aged 29 years. He professed conversion at the tender age of j fifteen, and united with the Church of Christ at Seal's Creek, in which connection he re? mained a consistent and orderly member until four years ago, when, removing to an incon? venient distance from said Church, he drew, his letter and identified himself with the Church at Shiioh, where he remained until he was taken, and as we humbly trust, transplanted in the Charch triumphant in Heaven. The writer knew him well; had been associated with him at Neal's Creek as brother Sunday School co workers, and as co-laborers in the weekly prayer-meetings, in which his place was always filled, and subsequently as his Pastor at Shiioh, which knowledge enables him to hope that he has been dehvered from his body of sin and death, and that he now lives in the mansions of j eternal rest. He left a devoted wife, and five almost helpless children to lament their great loss. They are entitled to the prayers and sympathies of all God's people. Let none dare refuse them. To her husband's and their father's God we commit them, knowing that He will be faithful in all His promises to the widow and orphan. M. McGee. Administrator's Sale. WILL be sold at Anderson C.
