Managers herein named will meet at once at their respective Precincts, and organ? ize themselves into a Board, by appointing ono of their number to serve as'Chairman, who is empowered to administer the necessary oaths in- every instance. The Chairman of each Board will call at this office, prior to the day of election, and bo qualified, and get the Boxes and Election Law. The Polls will be opened at 6 o'clock in the forenoon and closed at 6 o'clock in the after? noon of the day of election, and shall be kept open during those hours without intermission; and the Managers shall administer to each per? son offering to vote, an oath that he is qualified to vote at.this election, according' to the Con? stitution and laws of this State, and that he has not voted during this election. - Immediately, after the closing of the polls, the Managers shall proceed publicly to open the ballot box and count the ballots therein, and continue such count, without adjournment or interruption, until the same is completed, and make such statement of the result thereof, and sign the same, as the nature of the election^ shall require. Within three days thereafter, the Chairman of the Board of Managers, or one of them, to be. designated in writing by, the-Board, shall deliver to the Commissioners of Election the poll list, the boxes containing the ballots, and a written statement of tho result of the election m his precinct. The Peace Officers arc required to be present at the polls until the election is completed, pre? serve the peace and the independence of tho ballot and see that uo liquor is solil at or near the election precinct. Ail Bar Rooms, and other places for the sale of liquors by retail, shall do closed at six o'clock, en the evening preceding the day of election, and remain closed until six o'clock hi the morning of the next day thereafter, and during the time aforesaid the sale of all intoxi? cating liquors is prohibited. . Sept 12,1872 10 4 J OFFICIAL. _i IN pursuance of an act of the General Assem? bly approved March 1,1870, entitled "An act, providing for the general election and the manner of conducting the same, amended by an act approved March 12, 1872, an election will be held in the several counties of this State on the THIRD WEDNESDAY, being the 16th day of October, for the following State, Legisla? ture, County and Congressional officers, to serve for the next two years, as provided by the State constitution and acts of Congress of the United States, to wit: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Comptroller General, Superinten? dent of Education, Adjutant and inspector General, members of the General Assembly, Solicitors in the several judicial circuits, and for the various county offices, together with one member of Congress to represent the State at large, and Representatives in the respective Congressional Districts. At the said election the following amend? ments to the State Constitution will be submit? ted to the voters for ratification or rejection, to wit: - 1st. Amendment relating to change of time of holding general elections. ; Strike out all ofthat portion of Section XI of Article 2, following the words "eighteen hun? dred and seventy" occurring in the fourth and fifth lines, and insert the following: "And for? ever thereafter, oh the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November, in every second year, in'such manner and at such places as the Legislature may provide." The manner of vo? ting on this amendment shall be as follows: Those in favor of the amendment shall deposit a ballot with the following words- written or printed thereon, "Constitutional Amendment? Yes." Those opposed to said amendment shall shall cast a ballot with the following words written or jn-inted thereon, "Constitutional | Amendment?No." 2d.
