THE AMERICAN
Button-Hole, Overseaming
AXD
Complete Sewing MacMne.
THE first and only BUTTON-HOLE AND
SEWING MACHINE combined that has
made its advent in this or any other country.
Tho following reasons are *given "why this is
the
Best Family Machine to Purchase.
L Because it will do everything that any ma?
chine can do, sewing from the finest to the
coarsest material, hemming, felling, cording,
braiding, binding, gathering and sewing on, at
the same time ruining, quilting, etc., better
than another machine.
2. Because the tensions are more easily ad?
justed than any other machine.
3. Because it can work a beautiful button?
hole, making as fine a pearl as by the hand.
4. Because it will embroider over the edge,
making a ueat and beautiful border on any gar?
ment '
5. Because it will work a beautiful eyelet
hole.
6. Because it can do over-hand seaming, by
which sheets, pillow-cases and the like are
sewed over and over.
7. Because you can quickly raise or lower the
feed to adapt it to thick or thin cloth.
8. Because you have a short, deep bobbin, by
which the thread is constantly drawn from the
centre; tho tension is consequently ;veu, and
does not break tho thread.
9. Because the presser-foot turns back; that
tho cloth can be easily removed after being
sewed.
10. Because the best mechanics pronounce it
the best finished and made on the best principle
of any machine manufactured. It has no
springs to break; nothing to get out of order.
1L Because it is two machines in one. A
Button-hole Working and Sowing Machine
combined.
No other Machine can accomplish tho kind
of sowing stated in Nos. 3,4, 5 and (j.
Parties using a familv sewing machine want
a WHOLE MACHINE, one with all tho im?
provements.
It is to last a LIFETIME, and therefore one
is wanted that will do the most work and do it
tho best; and this machine can do several
kinds of sewing not done on ANY OTHER
MACHINE, besides doing every kind that all
others can do.
The American or Plain Sewing Machine,
(Without tho button-hole parts,) does all that
is done on the Combination except button-hole
and over-seaming.
Read the following report of the Committoe
on Sewing Machines at tho Massachusetts Me?
chanics' Charitable Association Fair:
The American Button-Hole., Overseaming and
Sewing Machine Combined.?This is a new in?
vention which is just working its way into
public favor, and is dostinod without doubt, to
take a front rank among the first-class Family
Sewing Machines, combining, as it does, in one
machine, the ability to do all tho various kinds
of plain and fancy sewing done on any lirst
class machine, and also tho working of button?
holes and overseaming. Neat in design, well
made, of good material, and requiring but a
few moments to change from a Button-Hole
Machine to a plain Sewing Machine, and your
Committee deem it well worthy of the highest
premium in the gilt of this Association, and
award a Gold Modal.
At tho Mechanics' Ff.ir, held at Concord, N.
II., the Amorican Button-Hole, Overseaming
and Sowing Muehine Combined, rcceivod a
Gold Modal as a perfect Machine Read report
of Committee:
This machine, whilo it possesses all the qual?
ifications of otlicr first-class Shuttle Family
Sewing Machines, has combined tho Over?
seaming and Button-Hole making, which must
make it stand foremost among Family Sewing
Machines, not only for its combination, but
for its simplicity, and rapidity with which it
can bo changed from one kind of work to an?
other. The committee were much pleased with
the fine finish, workmanship, and rapidity
with which this pioneer of a machine aid its
work, and tho committee take great pleasure
in awarding to it tho highest premium, as a
perfect Family Sowing Machine, a Gold Medal.
Examine them before purchasing any other
Sewing Machine.
