?! An Outrageous Murder? Wclearn,from a reliable source, intelligence as to a horrible murder which was committed, on Tuesday night last, upon the plantation of Trial Justice W. L. W*. Rilev. The victim was a colored man, named John Perry. Tbo perpetrators are unknown. The facts are these : On Tues? day night last, about 12 o'clock, four white men visited the place of Mr. Riley. They first weut to the house of Reuben Jamison, a color? ed man, and demanded that he should take them to the house of John Perry. Jamison was frightened, and, of course, obeyed the com .-mand of the midnight assassin. Just as they neared the house or the deceased, he, in the meantime, getting the alarm, ran out of the ."back door. Before he got far from bis house, he received two or three loads of buck-shot in .his. back, which killed him instantly. Trial Justice Riley summoned a jury of inquest, and a verdict was rendered iu accordance with the .facts. What caused these assassins to thus murder a respectable and inoffensive citizen, we forbear to conjecture until wo receive fur? ther intelligence. Our informants tell us that Perry was an industrious and hard-working man; and never did any one an injury.?Orange burg News. Receipts at all p?rts 10,472 bales, against 10,900 bales last week, 10,601 previous week, and 15,386 three weeks fiince. Total receipts since September 8,977,820 bales, against 2,880,020 for the corres? ponding period in the previous year, showing an increase of 1,097,800 in favor of tho present season. Exports from all ports for tho week 7,893 bales against 5,539 for the same week last year. Total exports for the expired portion of I the cotton year 3,091,389 against 2,148,891 for the same time last year. Stock at all ports is 150, .212 against 108,278 for the same time last year. .?Stocks at interior towns 14,852 against 22,170 last year. Stock in Liverpool is 673,000 against I 568,000 last year. American cotton afloat for ?Great Britain 46,000 against 50,000 last .year. Indian, afloat for Europo, 653,013 against 527, 591 last year. Tho weather at tho South during tho week was hot and dry in many sections, whilo' in other parts tho heat was relieved by showers. Some advices speak of caterpillars, and state further that the condition of the grow? ing plant is iess favorable. No great damage to the crop is reported. HYMENEAL.
