The executors of the estate of the
late Hon. George W. Croft are having
a cement sidewalk put down in front

with the similar sidewalk in front of

Barnard Villa, Mr. W. H Barnard’s
residence opposite the Golf grounds,
which has recently been rented by
Messrs. John Laird it Son, to Mr. H. E
Hooper, of London, fetches the great
est rental of any place in Aiken. What
the present tenant pays is not stated,
but it is stated that the great railroad
man, Mr. J. J. Hill, paid $15,000 for it
last season.
Tourists on the Move.
The tourists are now going back to
the North and within the next few
weeks almost all the Northern visitors
who have been in the city since the
early part of the winter will be gone.
At the railway office, it is stated,
that every train carries away a large
number, but the incoming trains bring
some to take the places of those who
' are leaving.
The present season Ims been the
' most successful of any that has evi r
j been had in Aiken.
The warm weather which has been
I prevailing here for the past two or
three weeks is responsible for the
early move northward of the visit* rs,
and the season this year will necessa
rily be a little shorter on account of
this fact.
