The Hotel Park in the pines was
formally opened for the season on last
Friday, the 15th instant. Then* are al
ready several guests in the house, and
a number of rooms are engaged from
the first week in January. There is
every prospect of a fine season.
Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Wadsworth, of
Middletown, Conn., who occupied tho
Croft place on South Boundary avenue

intention not to visit Aiken this year.

north of Aiken for $1,200.
Mr. \V. C. Bell, of Graniteville, has
bought from Mr. C. A. Holley, of Au
gusta, 38 acres ’near Langley, paying
$125 for it.
R. J Wade, Jr , has bought 117 acres
from George H. Atwood, for $1,525.

At the late meeting of the Methodist
conference. Rev. B. R. Turnipseed was
transferred from Aiken to the pastor
ate of the Green Street Methodist
church in Columbia; and Rev. J. S.
Beasley assigned to St John’s church
here in this place.

Pursuant to an Act of the General
Assembly and the City Ordinance the
Tax Duplicate of the said City will be
open at my office for the purpose of
collecting City Taxes from Oct. loth
1905, to March 1st. 1906, for the fiscal
year, commencing January 1 19 6
All persons residing within the limits
of the City of Aiken, and who made
Tax returns to Mr. D. H. Wise, County
Auditor, for taxation in January and
February, last, their names with the
returns aforesaid, have been copied on
the Tax Duplicate of the said city, and
hence they stand charged with the
City Taxes for the fiscal year afore
said. as provided by law. Tax levy as
follows:
For Current expenses .... 9 mills.
For Sinking Fund ... . .. Infill
Total Tax . .- 10 mills.
