O N account ot the numerous hold
ups in the County in the past
twelve months, I do not think it would
be doing Justice to myself, or the
County, to risk my life and their mo
ney by traveling through the country
by private conveyance as heretofore,
so in the future will only go to such
points as can be reached by rail.
Pursuant to an Act of the General
Assembly, approved February 7th,
1896, entitlea “An Act to Regulate the
Attendance of County Treasurers at
Convenient Places in their Respective
Counties,” the Treasurer’s book will
be open for the purpose of collecting
the tax for the fiscal year, commencing
January 1, 1902, and ending December
31. 1902,) from October 15,1902, to De
cember 31, 1902. The following is the
levy:
State Tax 5 Mills.
County Tax.... 3 Mills
School Tax.. .. .3 Mills '
The Treasurer will be at the follow
ing places specified, to receive the tax
es of 1902.
The Commutation Road Tax will be
collected at the same time for the year
1903. All able-bodied males from 18
to 50 years are liable to road tax, ex
cept Confederate Veterans and minis
ters of the gospel in actual charge of a
congregatio >. School Trustees are ex
empt from Road Tax. Failure to pay
poll tax is a misdemeanor and punish
able by law.
