The following are the facts in brief:

‘‘Hester seed,” made his seed bed
February 8th and set out plants May

clay subsoil. The land was thoroughly
prepared hy a broadcast breaking and

write and tell you that the Baptist
Fair entertainment came off on the
< v> ningof the 22d, hut we could not,
so we will steal thirty minutes of our
time now and tty to give you a short
description of same. Well, to begin
we will say that the doors were opened
promptly at •> o’clock and Mien the
excellent singing began, which was
very good indeed, conducted by Mr.
Funis Seim, who gave us line music
from ids organ. The surging and
playing continued for one hour, at
which time Mr. Thos. Rhoden, Sr.,
the manager of the fair, introduced
Dr. Smith and Mr. Dean (the auc
tioneer) to tin* now crowded hall, who
began at once to sell ♦.he many beau
tiful presents that had been donated.
This took about two hours of hard
work, and then wc did not soil quite
all of the babies—the doil babies we
mean; we suppose, though, (he reason
was because nearly everybody in Yau-
ciuse has enough of their own. The
handsomest, prettiest anil most costly
present that was sold was a beautiful
dressing case, which was presented to
the committee by one of Yaucluse’s
most liberal-hearted gentlemen, Mr.
E. A. Thompson. The present was
valued at $13 and sold for $10 to Mr.
Thompson. There was a beautiful
