An Ordinance for the protection of
tiie cultivated parks was introduced
by Warden Busch and by unnani-

ings and became a law. The Clerk
was ordered to publish the same three
times in the public prints.
Warden Schroder called attention
to the matter of barber shops being
kept open on Sundays alluding to tiie
fact that it was productive of disorder.
He said the object was to reach one,
about which all knew, and stated that
lie was informed that as many as twen
ty-five and thirty' men went into that
shop in the course of one hour, and
yet there is only one man to shave
them. Mr. Schroder then asked the
significant question, what was that
for? Warden Courtney without ris
ing from his seat replied, “to get a
drink of whiskey.” Air. Schroder
then asked if it was necessary to in
troduce an ordinance to ciose the bar

To this Inteudant Sommer at once
replied that it was not necessary fora

my weather-beaten phiz, together with all forms, modes of grief that
can denote how wretched I feel, wheu I tell you, in a few pitying
tones, mingled with a murmer or two of utter despair, that I have
been the victim of misrepresentation, whereby a full weeks wages (on
half time) flew from my gaze like a pack of hungy wolves devouring
a Down East wood-chopper. To be brief and explicit. I have been out
