Mayor Lybrand and the veteran Edisto Rifles, will occupy a prominent place in the picture. The Fusileer Band will bring two extra pieces and will wear new uni forms. Mr. Schliumyer from Berlin, will have his “flying horses” at the Heliuet- zen, and the music attatclied to his show is said to be excellent. President Halm requests the mem bers of the Aiken press to act during the Schuetzen as a commitleof recep tion, for viniting nienii>ers of tiie press. Dr. T. G. Croft returned from New York on Wednesday, whither he had gone on professional business, to start almost imediately for North Carolina on business of the same na ture. Ox Saturday last we met an old Beech Island fanner who said he was ashamed of the name of Sam, because Sam Melton had the same name. He need not be ashamed, however, for its the man that makes the name and not the name the man. Knight* of Honor. The Grand Lodge of tiie Knights of Honor, representing every section of the State, will assemble to-day at 10 o’clock at their hall for the transac tion of business. The session will last two days. The Death of Daniel Hickson Inves tigated. On the 29th of Marcli Daniel Hick son, living on Tinker’s Creek, in the lower edge of this county, was burned to death. Suspicion of foul play rest ed upon Tilda, his wife, and Jacob Harris, his stepson, and they were both arrested on a warrant issued by Trial Justice T. W. Keenan, and a E reliminary examination was held efore him at Windsor on Saturday last, 14th inst. The defendants were represented by W. Davis, Esq., of Aiken, and Jas. E. Davis, Esq., of the Barnwell Bar. O. C. Jordan, Esq., of Aiken, appeared for the State. After a careful investigation of the case, followed by argument of counsel, both deleudants were discharged for want of probable cause. Palxncttoe* to the Front.
