She was bored with Christmas.
Qu e absolutely, utterly bored with
Christmas. She always received something
she didn't like or couldn't use.
She already had stationery cnou:;h to
last a lifetime. What could she do
with a dozen manicure sets? Well
yes. she could use silk stockings and
handkies. One never had enough of
them.
She just knew that her friends felt,
the saint? way about some of the stuffj
as she called it. she had given them.

time? Well, she might pick up most
any thinf^ but what about Muriel who
was too particular and finicky for any
use? ^ ckings again, she supposed.
Yes sir? she was bored with Christmas.

Engagement Relieves Boredom.
Perhaps her boredom was by way
of contrast this year. living engaged
to Jim Harlev was sufficiently exciting1
and thrilHnp. Jim had a way with
him whieh would have made any pill's
heart sinp. You couldn't resist him
when he flashed his dark humorous
eyes.
Ruth and he had been engaged just
because they couldn't be otherwise,

January to June. Harley, upon bis return
